I really want to get an electric guitar. I've never played before but I really want to learn. I know nothing about which brands of guitars are good though. If someone could help me find a nice guitar I'd appreciate it greatly.

Uhh, price range can't be thousands of dollars. I'm willing to save up my money so...I'll put maybe a price cap at around $800 USD. Hopefully that can get my a fairly decent guitar.

Thanks!

Depends on which style of music you want to play, here are the one I recommend.

Jazz/Classic Rock, Epiphone Riviera, Epiphone Casino, Gibson Es-335, (I have casino very sweet guitar)

Rock, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, B.C Rich Warlock,Epiphone Les Paul, Ibanez almost any model will do, Dean guitars, Epiphone or Gibson SG I recommend 310 or 400, the best.

Hardcore Rock, B.C Rich (Any), Epiphone Les Paul BUt for this one I recommend Epiphone or Gibson SG, because of their humbucker pick ups.

Metal, Ibanez, Epiphone or Gibson SG, B.C Rich.

For all styles: I recommend Epiphone or Gibson SG, Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster, Epiphone Casino will do but it produces warm mellow sound so you might need to replace pick ups because they are designed for Classic Rock like Beatles...Epiphone Les Paul, Gibson les paul is too expensive, But Epiphone is a division of Gibson...and of Course Ibanez.

I hope this helps.

Don't get gibson if you dont have enough money.

Hmm It depends on how much money you want to spend, 400 quid might not be enough for a Gibon SG as some are like 700+ pounds,($1400 ) whereas a fender stratocaster/squire would be around 100quid or maybe less. I personally have a squire but I have played on an SG, which was pretty sweet, V nice sound- pickups are good as Beatles said.
One thing though- it might just be where I live and the weather or theres something wrong with mine but my squire goes out of tune SOOO easily. :?

Just everything beatles said. I didn't have to pay for mine because it used to belong to a family friend's daughter. She was going away to go to school so she won't get time to play so her parents asked if we wanted it because they were going to sell it anyways. So we took it. And if I was to keep it, might as well learn to play.

Forming another band anyways! And I won't be playing keyboard/piano this time.
