Taken from a thread on Explosm forums.

Pretty sad, free speech allows such discrimination to be unpunished. Be sure to read the comments below the article too.

I find it very surprizing that the editor even allows such crap to be put in their newsletter whateveryoucallit.

Lol i agree with him. XD

Everything he said there is pretty much the truth in my opinion, thankfully it's banned to smoke in public places here so we're at least taking action against them.

It's a damage to my health and i shouldn't be exposed to it if i don't want to be.

I quit a year or so ago because of some reasons, including health. But yeah, my smoker friends actually respect the people near them.

If they're going to light one, they'll leave the room or go outside alone. I've never met any smoker who blows smoke in my face or anyone's for that matter.

Although the kid had a point, he's saying it like he's the Jack Thompson of smokers. Every smoker has a reason to why they started smoking. Stress, anger, or plainly peer pressure. I myself started because I was stressed up at the time. Quit because I know it's a waste of life and money.

Although some still begin to smoke just to gain attention, but those are not the only reasons people begin smoking. For most of the part it does relief stress, it's their decision let them whatever they want with their health. There is even not a single smoker in my family, but still I am fine with that. A lot of people started smoking after tragedies happening just like for example I had met a men who until his mother died when he was 40. Or doctors them selfs even begin to spoke from the pressure and what kind of things they see everyday. Tons of people's lives is at your hands and they can't deal with the pressure.

It's people's choice either or not they want to smoke and I would have to agree that it's not healthy and can ruin your health, but there tons of other things which can harm your health as much as smoking can does. But a lot of people simply blame cigarettes which is just pathetic.

Okay, can anyone who actually look like him judge others for a start?

Good to see someone who writes articles puts so much effort into researching them anyway... what a prat...

There's nothing wrong with smoking, I do it, but if I want to spark up, I'll make sure I'm outside, and keep my smoke away from my friends who don't smoke themselves. And I can safely say that the "every time you smoke a ciggarette you lose eight minutes off your life" statement is complete crap, considering my grandad smokes and he turned 85 in March, and he's smoked since he was about 12...

I agree here, I am also asthmatic and can't be around smokers. So my grandma and other people who smoke make sure that they stay far away from me. My other set of grandparents quit, and I respect the people who quit. However, people smoke of their own accord. Because of secondhand smoke though, people shouldn't be able to smoke in most public places.

I completely agree with this guy. I hate having to go around a tourist area smelling smoke the whole time. I do not want to go into a car and smell smoke. I don't want smokers to die of lung cancer. WE should ban cigarettes.

I think its a good idea to ban smoking in public places.

At work the smokers have to go outside and round the corner for a cigarrette.

However at college, they just stand outside the doors... where people walk in and out of.

Smokers can smoke if they want to, but they shouldn't put non smokers in danger.
