As of 3:25pm Est. 32 people have been shot and killed at Virginia Tech.


I dont get why police stand around with there thumbs up there ***'s. Why not go in and kill the gunman......

That is just terrible I just had read an article online and watched a video about 40 minutes ago. I can't believe there is person like that would commit such a horrible crime, but unfortunately there is.

Some of the news are saying they dont know how many shooter there are,so there could be multiple shooters. The shooter was a asian male who wore a black leather coat, so i guess there being safe and handcuffing him.

When are you going to start putting tighter restrictions on guns. Yeah, i expect a load of people to cry over that comment but whatever, it doesn't happen here and guns are illegal for most people.

You cant just ban guns in america, look how good it did for drugs. Banning guns would make a massive black market for guns, plus there not coming to my house to take my dads guns....As americans we have the right to bare arms. They do need more laws for guns tho, as who owns them....

Oh well no offence usa Spec Ops, cops suck....look in one of vid a fat cop running and thats, usa troops, spec ops should be trained to storm to building no matter what not waiting outside for hours.

We banned guns in the UK. Sure, there's gun crime, but it's very rare. Guns create unnecessary danger for everyone.

My dad is a cop, and I take that as stereotyping. Saying cops suck is like saying that firefighters suck because one fat guy couldn't put his boots on.

As for the video, that is a sad thing, reminds me of the Columbine awhile back.

Why did they close all entrances after it started? Surely you would try to evacuate ASAP.

...And spread the word a better way than an email.

It's a huge campus apparently. Would have been near impossible to secure it completely.

Cops are supposed to storm the building not wait outside or maybe throw in somekind of riot control gas, ****ed up people like the commanders dont always think right and hell tons of us get killed...because they are not fast with decision.

That's probably their university emergnecy system. Locking the doors to classrooms, staying away from windows, and evacuating the hallways would minimize casualties.
Think about it, if they had the whole university running around chaotically through the halls to get outside, you would be putting many more people in danger.
Then the police and special forces can enter the building and take out the gunmen without harming other students.

As for the emails, it's probably the safest and fastest way to contact the students and teachers. Any other way would be through word of mouth or intercom, both which are slower and much easier to impersonate.

It's horrible though, Columbine all over again. :(
