Post subject: | Question i have.. |
So, i have a friend of mine (and yes..it is actually a friend..not me, lol) who got yelled at by her math teacher today. Heres the story: She took her phone out real fast in class to check the time. He turned around and saw her phone out and assumed she was texting. He said to her in a very bad tone to put the phone away. She did, and put it in her pocket and said she was sorry. He yelled at her the that after he was passing out homework she needs to bring it up to her desk. Then, when she brought it up to her desk, she said "I'm.." and he cut her off and just started randomly yelling at her without reason until she was in tears. After that he still continued to yell at her and she was trying to explain why she had her phone out. He asked her if he needed to bring the security guards down to take her to the office, and she said she would go by herself. Now, she is the kind of girl who gets really scared at people yelling at her, and freezes up, etc. She went to the office and tried to explain to the administrator things, while balling her eyes out. The administrator just said somethings, made things worse, said he'd "look" into it, and said she might be suspended for 3 days (which with her classes, would make all her grades drop). She never once said she wouldnt give her phone to him, she just needed to get out of that classroom. My question is, would that count as verbal abuse if he was yelling at her without reason, until she started crying, and even past then? I beleive it is, as if goes under the defintion of abuse by arizona state law. I have looked up several laws passed in arizona, and it seems what he was doing was against the teacher standards and laws concerning student/child treatment. My other question is, if she does get expelled, would it place the administrator into risk for negligence, as he really isnt investigating it? And if so, should i approach him about it? |

I was a mouthly little mandam at school, i found out, no matter how much abuse a teacher gives you, you cannot proove anything (unless rape or sexual assualt) Just screaming at a pupil, teachers have a excuse and the head teacher will proberly take his word, over a pupils, unless he has a history or thiers been many complaints about it, Personally i would say it was verbal abuse, but then again, teaching 30 odd kids, 5 days a week, can be stressfull id imagine, Hes proberly over worked and stressed ![]() |

well, he has a history of verbally mistreating students, calling them names, yelling at them for little reason..and when he yells at a student so much the person is litterally shaking from trauma..thats verbal abuse, lol..and trust me..if the administration at my school hands out a punishment to her for no reason...then...well...Ill be forced to throw in 3 laws i found that say that if they ignore the teachers abuse, they risk getting jailed for neglegence :p |

You get rude teachers, i'd be rude to if i had to deal with stupid annoying school kids every day. She shouldn't of had her phone out, that's the stance the school will take on it and you'll get no where. Weither he was right or wrong, it doesn't matter, nothing will come of it. |

well..all she was doing was checking the time..she wasnt even trying to hold it..i mean..does this make sense... a kid with straight A's in all honors/AP classes, with no prior record of disciplinary problems all of a sudden becomes a problem? doesnt really make sense..lol |

I really hate when people of higher authority then you do that. You can't do much in a lot of cases. For those people I just want to do the same thing back to them. So the y will finally feel how its lke. |

Fight fire with fire. She doesn't seem like the kind of girl who'd do that though. Just be loud. I did it to my French Teacher. I got an E as my final grade. I didn't realize he was marking the papers. ![]() |

Hmm, it seems wierd. She could have avoided this situation. Why did she use her phone to check the time? All the classrooms I've been in have clocks on the wall. Why didn't she just use the clock on the wall? So maybe she was trying to do something else like text messaging. I don't know, you just have to take everything into consideration. If she follows through with a lawsuit make sure she has witnesses for the proof of the time being. |

That's terrible. The barbarian! He should be hung, drawn, and quartered! And whipped! And boiled...until...until...until he has enough. Then he should be put through it again! And after that, you should take all the little pieces and jump on them! And you should carry on jumping on them until you get blisters, or until you can think of anything more unpleasant to do and then... Anyway you should do something about it. Anything. |

I sent a long email to my principal after school yesterday because he had a go at me for no reason. Problem solved. Make it sound like you're in the wrong and they'll feel sympathetic. ![]() |
