The Australian wrote: Russia warns on Saddam hanging
From correspondents in Moscow November 06, 2006 MOSCOW has warned of "catastrophic consequences" in Iraq if former president Saddam Hussein is hanged, but expressed scepticism today that the death penalty would be carried out. If the execution took place “there would be catastrophic consequences for Iraq, which is already on the verge of breaking up”, Konstantin Kosachev, president of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs, said on Moscow Echo radio. “It is unlikely the death penalty will be applied,” he said. “It's rather a decision of moral principle”. “It is obvious that condemning him to death will only further divide Iraqi society. The Sunnis will not recognise this sentence,” he said. Saddam Hussein was today sentenced to death by hanging for ordering the massacre of 148 Shiite residents of the village of Dujail in the 1980s. I dont know what the russians are up to....But please dont turn this into a flame war. |

Well done, Russia says what everyone else was thinking. Kill him and he'll be looked at as a hero, it'll only help their cause. |

Eh, Russia always has an alterior motive when they say things like that. I don't know what it's about, but it's not about morality. |

President Bush wrote: The withdrawal of us troops from iraq has been declined It's terrorism, you can't end it, you can't 'put it down', only an idiot would declare war on a thing like terrorism. |

Yes, sentence the man who killed over a hundred innocent people, and ignore the fact that the other man who killed over thousands of innocent people is not dead yet. I love the world. Considering how female Iraqis have been raped by the US troops and forced to strip naked and the troops are left unpunished, instead they're propagated to be 'heroes' of the country. I really love the world. |

the atom bomb is like a carrying a big knife to a gun fight. it may be deadly but you'll never get a chance to use it. considering that the Iraqis are going to kill him anyway i just think that they should use a different method. i say give him lethal injection. hanging isn't really that "painless" but injection isn't that much better but i think it would show "iraq is moving away from the past and we're heading to the future" |
