Thanks Chris for moving it. Well from what I gather from living here in Canada your allowed to have your own religion. That I have no problem with. I say good for you you have something to look for. But what I don't get is why government hot topics such as same-sex marriage(you should know whats censored) and legalizing euthanasia, are argued over and never get a real decision because the main stream religion says no. My first thought, why should one Mina religion decide whats good for the other people? Just because your in the mainstream religion doesn't mean you have all the power, you have to think of all of Canada and the other religions. These decisions are all based on one religion, but Canada is not one religion. The government is not going for the minority, just the majority. It sickens me the one religion is deciding whats best for the rest of Canada. Its makes no sense. For example: Euthanasia, Definition --> http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/euthanasia Going for it: People can't afford to keep there loved one the machines and there are going to die soon anyways. Or they don't want to feel pain any more. Against it: God decides when we go and not humans. Now for me I don't believe in the whole God thing, but I respect people that they have a religion. But whats says you can decide for the good for all of Canada. The government should legalize and those who don't like, DON"T DO IT. You don't want it so why make it not available to those who want do it??? So my main point is that why should one religion, just because there main stream have all of Canada with the rules they want. I don't think the rest of Canada needs to be assimilated to one religion. We should all be able to have of own religion. Definition of assimilated: http://dictionary.reference.com/search? ... ssimilated So this is what someone who doesn't believe in God might say when someone who does "I don't believe in the same things you believe in, so why do I have to do the same things you do?" I believe you can have any religion, not unless it is harming someone mentally or physically. That's where Canada draws the lines when it comes to religion. I think alot of people would agree |

Anyone who feels the need to be overtly religious in this topic and or flame. Prepare to get warned. Im not just going to lock this or move it away for the reason that it's religious, but I will if people can't be mature enough to respect others view points. |

The goverment should just ignore religion, pretend it doesn't exist, it'll make doing things 10X more easier. |

Our Prime Minister is Athiest. Smooths things off a bit. Why argue over it anyway. We should be allowed to 'Mercy Kill' and have same seks marriages. Religeon shouldn't control politics or vise versus. Coincidentally, most great nations are built on it. Psst. Check the fourth barsig. |

People believe they should be free to believe in what they like and no one has the right to question that or stand against it. Yet those same people try to stand in the way of other peoples freedom because it clashes with there beliefs. Hypocritical eh? Religion should have no power over todays world or influence upon it, goverments need to get a backbone. |

I agree with what Creepy says. However as to the reason why these things keep coming up is because there are groups all over the spectrum that have different views. Back in January we changed from a left wing Liberal government to a right wing Conservative government. These things are going to keep being debated because these two governments have different views. And as I said above there are people in the public who agree and oppose things all the time, but that's what democracy is for; to get your vote heard. Personally I am a conservative and agree with most conservative policies. |

Saying that government should ignore religion is sort of a pipe dream. Government is made up of people, many who are religious or consider their religion when making decisions, and for some people it's not easy to ignore. Sure, it'd be great if religion didn't play a role in government, but I doubt things will ever evolve to that. |

Yeah, i never said it would be an easy thing, goverments need support of the people including religious, it'd just make the world a lot easier. |

everyone who knows me knows that i support same *** marriage. because here, we are suppose to have seperation of church and state. a person can make the best arugment of why god would dissaprove of same *** marriage but if i was a judge i would have to follow the law. since there is seperation of church and state, whatever that person said about how god would hate to have SSM has no weight in court. that acusation will be DISMISSSED! if we were to support religion in the court's decision, then they would have to take into account of all the other religions out there. so then what's stopping people starting a religion that says SSM is okay? does this work, no because people will continue to have religious values which influences their decision. reason why we still have to teach between evolution and devine intervention. |
