You'll won't be able to get a domain and forums like RSBandB's for free.

But, an easy way to create your own forum for free would be through an Invisionfree subdomain.

Freewebs. Good for beginners with little or no HTML or coding experiance. Lots of cool templates to choose from or upload your own backgrounds and stuff. http://www.freewebs.com

Eh. Freewebs are for lazy people. :P

Invisionfree is good for forums, you can find free skins for them online also, which are based in CSS.

There are a lot of free PHPBB hosters. It's just like IF, except it is inactive for 30 days, it gets deleted off of the server. Just go to goodle and type in "Free phpbb". But I think that Invision Free is better, for that kind of stuff. You can try them both and see what you like. And if you do Invision Free, you can look in the forum database and go to graphics and designing and look at the forum skins for you to use.

I wasn't referring to not being able to get a PHPBB forum for free, those are quite easy to obtain.

I meant having that his website having an actual website domain, i.e. http://www.rsbandb.com, won't be for free.

1. Learn HTML.
2. Learn how to do graphics.
3. Learn how to adminstrate phpBB/SMF/IPB
4. Learn how to use FTP.
5. Buy hosting and a domain.
6. Set up your website.

Then whoopee, you have a website.

Go to Microsoft and download Visual Web Developer (it's free until November so hurry) and learn HTML.

And... DO NOT use Freewebs, they make you put a link back to their website.

freeforum101.com is a good place for forum hosting.

No, dont.

Buy Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver if you want to actually make some decent websites. Microsoft is crap when it comes to web development.

But to be able to use any web development tool effectively, you MUST know HTML first. You dont necessarily have to know CSS, but it really helps if you do. Sometimes Dreamweaver will cough up stuff you dont want, and you have to be able to think on your feet and modify the code such that it looks the way you want it to look.

It may seem like quite a bit of effort at first, but learning HTML is incredibly easy, actually. It will help a lot.

I agree, freewebs sucks. In all truth, any free website hoster sucks. If you want to make a website, you've got to pay, its as simple as that.

Mhmmm... Freewebs isn't too bad, as long as you use them to host your html, not just be lazy and pick pre-made stuff.

heres some good websites to help you learn html:

http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp

^It tought me all the basic html that i know.

http://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp ... html_basic

^This allows you to test your code before using it.

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/text/xhtml01.php

^I haven't read through it all, but it should teach you a bit about xhtml.

Besides that, I'm not exactly a professional with html or photoshop, but many of the basic things are rather easy to remember.

Basicly its going to take time, you should learn basic html (assuming you don't already know any) because if your using dreamweaver, you might have to tweak the code a little to make what your trying to do work, you REALLY need, and know how to use photoshop, gimp etc. Otherwise your website won't be attractive, knowing the basics of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) will help make everything easier in DW. Most fan sites don't make it and end up with no members, there are a lot of factors to consider before putting most of your time in on creating a website to just fail, also ask some friends about what they think of your site, WHILE your making it, get some advice, get help, and yes if you are going to use a free hosting site, your chance of it being a site with active members is greatly reduced.

Ohh and hi everyone!

I went to Barnes & Noble Booksellers and bought HTML 4 for Dummies.

Taught me enough to make a simple site, the rest I guess you learn from experience. And I use freewebd to practice. Not bad to use it that way :p
