Post subject:  Music that brings back memories...
For a lot of people, certain music can stick in your mind and bring back memories when you hear it, often bad rather than good. This often happens because certain events take place that coincide with you listening to specific music.

For me, ELO and Take That bring back pretty awful memories, to the extent that I no longer listen to it.

So my question is, is there any music that bring back memories, good or bad, when you hear it? Obviously I wouldn't expect anyone to discuss the events, but perhaps the music.

As a matter of fact, there is one song which holds very difficult memories for me.

I bought this song at about Christmas time 2008. On the 5th of January, my best friend's girlfriend killed herself and my best friend spiralled into depression. I listened to this song an awful lot, and as such it's linked to him telling me really disturbing things making this song quite difficult to listen to without the memories flooding back. He's still around and in a much better nowadays.

Sorry for my mini-life story :lol:

Old 60s music can at times remind me of long car journeys with my family as a kid. As that's all my parents would play and with it being the early 1990s nothing else to do what with no mobile phones, no ipods hell i was still using my Brickboy at the time and i'd get car sick if i played that.

A lot of music reminds me of films which i suppose everyone gets whenever i hear this i immediately think of Gone in 60 seconds. And painted on my heart actually.

Old 1990s football songs remind me of school discos as well because they used to play those.

Yes, any new song I find and like, I generally listen to more than all my other songs for a good 2-4 weeks. Thus, whatever was happening at the time in my life is now associated with the song(s).

Some of the pop music from the 1990s brings back memories since I always remember my bros getting huge sound systems and listening to that type of music all the time.

The buckcherry album "15" brings back memories that shouldnt be bad but for some odd reason still are, also the song 'Beast and the Harlot" by Avenged 7X brings back memories of last winter on the day that i almost wrecked because of a patch of ice

for some reason i went to italy over teh summer, i was listening to a song being played in italian (had no idea what it was, i rlly want to tho) and i felt a huge connection with Rome i actually cried i have no idea why tho

Viva la Viva brings back memories of this kid I met at the beach a few years back, and Nightmare from A7x's new album brings back memories form this past summer

any jazz reminds me of my grandparents house, which isnt a pleasant memory. all i can do at their house is read, they dont even know what the internet is

Bohemian Rhapsody brings back A LOT of memories*cough*talkingaboutyouearthy*cough*. Love of my Life brings back a fair bit as well.

I would always listen to new albums when I got them while I was playing RS, so whenever I hear older albums I always think back to what I was no-lifing at that particular time.

I am aware how sad this is.

Chalk one up for me then. I know exactly what you mean. I will even go as far as to name a few since there are literally dozens.

Keep in mind that is just RS related. I can literally recall a memory for every single album/song in my library. Either the first time I heard it or who/what the song reminds me of. I have been called a freak before because of my memory. I have been called a freak before for that reason by someone whom has posted in this topic. O:)

I can pretty much relate all my music to something in my life.
But really hard to think of them when I'm not actually listening to them.
but For the sake of this question I did think of 2.

Grandaddy - AM 180 ( was heard in a old 2006 youtube video. edd's world , hello hellhole , and me and my best friend Drew use to love the that video, bring back memories )
Nobuo Uematsu - Aerith's theme ( few years ago, me and Drew decided that this would be our theme for when we died. he passed away in may. enough said )
