**Note this was posted on the forums. Thought it was well worth the discussion as a news item, seeing as (as far as I know) this is the first rollback RuneScape has had** Hi,
A recent update for the Dungeoneering skill has generated a bug that causes significant increases in XP gain. As a result, we shall temporarily be closing down the servers until this issue can be resolved. When the servers come back up with this bug fixed, we shall also be rolling back everyone’s entire save game state to the point where this bug was introduced (which should be no more than about 30 minutes’ worth). We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The High Scores tables have been rolled back to 1am GMT. This only effects the high scores temporarily. As soon as people log back in, the accurate figures (from 17:24 GMT) will be displayed. Mod Nexus - Edit: There will definitely be a rollback to just before the servers rebooted with the latest update approx 17.23 BST. This will take a while as there's a lot of data to copy from our storage system to the login servers. I'll keep you informed on this thread. Edit 2: Game worlds are back up and the login servers will be brought back online as and when they're ready. You should be able to log back in soon. |

I saw the twitter post for it (at school at the time so I couldn't see it) and then checked RW and people looked angry. I'm only going to be angry if I have under 14m fm xp. ![]() |

Man, it just seems like Jagex is falling apart when it comes to content development and implementation. Glad they caught it early. Still, they need to catch these things ahead of time. Maybe they rush dungeoneering a little to get it out quick. Still think they should have waited to the summer to release it. ![]() |

With the amount of bug fixes / rollback(s?) they've had recently, I'm really losing faith in their development skills. Far too many major problems, and the fact they've had to do a rollback is laughable. I really can not believe they've messed up this 'skill' so much. The quantity and especially the quality of bugs and exploits that this 'skill' has brought is pathetic. It should never have been this bad. It's like they shoved this out a month or more early and hoped nobody would notice (let alone notice that it's a (large) minigame). |

(well con had a drastic bug too :/ but they didnt roll back after the massacre) |

Earth wrote: How would you guys would like to go through and find every bug? None of you. Bugs happen, it's not possible to prevent everything. But considering the recent bugs, they're letting pretty serious stuff through. From what I could tell, none of the major bugs exploited something that would have been hard to predict ahead of time, much like the 'Falador Massacre' that Construction brought. That was somehow due to a massive amount of people in a given area, and whatever other unique circumstances. With the recent 'big bugs' such as massive EXP gain in Runecrafting, removing items from the minigame area, and semi-random crashing of clients, I can't see how these slipped past someone at Jagex. The removing of the items from the minigame area, Ok. Those are harder to find due to the seemingly obscure people do to bring them outside of the designated area. Still, the client crashing along with the EXP gains seem hard to fathom. These (alone, or in combination) required a rollback. According to the RuneScape Wiki, this rollback is the first to be caused by Jagex problems. The previous may or may not have even happened, and was somehow due to their ISP at the time. Point being, major stuff is getting through and Jagex has to rush to fix the problems before extreme problems arise. These aren't the standard bugs that have been creeping out lately. They're big, and Jagex letting them slip past is more than a bit concerning. |

Pennstate315 wrote: i say let everyone keep there xp, don't let everyone suffer I was on when they did the update and was crafting some runes at the start of a dungeon floor. After crafting only 120 or so essence, I had went from 55 rc to 65 rc in less than a minute. I reported the bug right away. Obviously, they couldn't let that kind of experience gain go without a rollback or everyone would have a runecrafting cape in about an hour. I'm not sure why they reduced the experience gain for rc in the dungeon so much. When they first released it, you could gain a decent amount of experience, but not so much that you wouldn't make runes outside the dungeon. Now, its not even worth the time making them unless you are going to mage that floor. All other skills in there have similar experience gains as outside, or in some cases, better. Why single out runecrafting? |
