In the first Development Diary on our graphical improvements, we showed you the results of textures, texture blending, shadows and fog. In this, the second and final Development Diary on the release, we shine a light on the other effects we have been using.

Minimum specifications:

To play RuneScape's new detail level you will need:
  • 1.5 GHz processor or higher
  • 256MB of RAM or more
  • 64MB 3D Graphics card, such as Nvidia(R) GeForce(TM) 3 or above

Additionally, your graphics card should have the latest drivers installed, to ensure the new detail level plays with no problems.

If you need more information on your computer's specifications or how to update your graphical drivers, visit our Tech Support Forum in the RuneScape Forums.

When the graphical improvement is released, you will be able to increase or decrease the number of graphical features that are activated. This will be done in your in-game 'Options' menu (the one with the spanner icon). So, any problems playing the new detail mode may be lessened by reducing the number of graphical features that are activated.

We would advise that your computer exceeds the above requirements, so you will be able to play the new detail mode without any issues.

REMINDER - The existing Low and High Detail will still be available, as the graphical update is completely optional.

That screenshot looks amazing. I'll definitely start playing again when those graphics come out.

Definitely a 5/5, without a doubt. Can't wait to check out these graphics, as long as these updates don't bog down the servers substantially.

Then those people can't be a warrior. I think the whole point of Rs is fighting. There are many other skills that don't involve fighting but I think more people fight than skill.

Edit: 5/5

5/5. As I said before, I think Jagex owes it to players to do this .. but I wasn't expecting this. The fullscreen version looks pretty good, and I'd play it if I weren't busy doing other things. If only you could move around with WASD and make a chat key .. then I'd be set. Too bad that isn't happening ..

I've been playing since about 2001 and this is definitely, hands down, the best update since Runescape 2 came out. In a sense, it's almost like Runescape 3 is coming out, huh? Runescape 2 was really just a major graphical update, and that's what this is.

5/5

Looks good.

I like the fact that you have a choice to decrease the graphical features if necessary.

Wow, those graphics look amazing. The new hud is pretty cool too, just like WoW. The face, how much more detail they put in it is amzing.

5/5

I'm ready to give them 1/5 because they should be focusing on getting rid of the no-longer-necessary random events, instead of all this fluff. And especially instead of taking 2 weeks off.

Also, it looks like the mini-map hasn't gotten any larger. That's a pitty.

And do you think we will be able to angle the screen so we look up? I doubt it. Pitty here too. I get tired of looking down all the time. I'd like to be able to look up a mountain side, or up at the taller monsters.

Whoa it's 3D! I knew that the RuneScape right now is 3D, but this is better 3D!!!
