Runescape.com wrote:
In a quiet field east of Draynor Manor, two enterprising gnomes have founded Gnomecopter Tours, featuring the latest development in gnomic flight technology. They're open for business now, offering free-players (and curious members) the chance to take a look at distant lands, including the beautiful elf village of Lletya, the frantic battlefield of Pest Control and the Trollweiss and Rellekka Hunter area.

Summary
Where to start using gnomecopters:

The gnomecopters depart from the field north of Lumbridge windmill.

Requirements:

None - this update is available to members and F2P!

Access to:

An aerial tour of some of the best members-only content.

In other news...

Abyssal bracelets have been changed to 'Forinthry bracelets'. These still protect you, as before, but will now allow you to escape when teleblocked by the Wilderness revenant ghosts. The bracelet's charges essentially counter a Teleblock spell that has been cast on you.

I'd say 3/5 because it is nice to give F2P a look at members (harmless advertising). The thing I found interesting was that they just show some NPC's (with strange and sometimes stupid names) at the areas instead of real people. You can go to Lletya, Castle Wars, Trollweiss and Relleka Hunting Grounds, Pest Control, Burthope Games Room, and Burgh de Rott. It has some interesting commentary that you can read through as you fly around each place.

Also apparently Spinach Rolls are F2P now. You can buy it from the gnome general store in the area o_O

Absolutely brilliant. A "Fly before you Buy". Plus, the names are funny and watching everything happen automatically looks awesome.

I gave it a 3. It's an okay update that is mostly there just for advertisement. There's no harm in it, it just seems to be one of those once and done updates. You just use them once and that is it.

Any practicle use? Is it a teleport system for p2p? Othewise, ... I wish they'd spent their development time on more serious problems.

gnomecopters...more like roflcopters. Its advertising, it adds nothing to the game. I really dont like it that much. Isnt the knowledge base enough to see what it all is really like?

Nope, no teleport..Just a trip around an area in a guided tour. Oh, and it's a fake area. No real players are visible.

4/5, just for the F2P aspect. I went around each area (I'm P2P) and Jagex did a decent job. Might have gotten me to become a member sooner than I did, but I think they should allow F2P to check out actual members worlds this way. More areas too...Seriously, the Games room? I've only seen people there once, and that was for whatever revamp they did a few years ago.

Maybe showing some Boss battles would get people interested. Watching a clan decimate the Kalphite Queen, or possibly a player killing Jad would entice some player to begin paying.

0/5 From a players view, cause it blows, to think our update this week that we payed for was a tour for f2p to get jagex more money.

2/5 For advertising, i honestly think it's a rubbish idea. It doesn't show off the members world at all, the place i went to i thought "well this blows" it was just rubbish, a few npc around and it was empty, they should show real members worlds and busy areas, i agree with showing off some boss fights as well.

More to the point, the moment that gets nocked off the front page any new people wont be able to find that, it's so out of the way i doubt anyone is going to notice it tucked away there.

It may not just be advertising. Most of it probably is, but think. Has flying/hovering ever been a skill/addition that you thought might be one sometime? Well this shows us that Jagex DOES have the capacity to add flying/hovering to the game. I'd have to give this a 3/5

Ever taken a ride through the desert on a carpet? This isn't too far from that, and considering the "gnomes borrowed the carpets to come up with this idea" I'm guessing the processes behind the copter is similar to the carpets.

How hard would it have been to add a drop off feature or something like that?

The main question that bugs me is what kind of people will it attract? Will it attract the low levels who just join to play castle wars or will it attract the higher level free world players and the f2p skillers?
