Quote: In recent months, we have been looking more and more at how wealth and objects move around the game. Our first update of the month, the Assist System, will continue in a similar vein, and owes a lot to your reports and suggestions. You told us that you wanted a system for offering services to others without actually transferring items. So, with the Assist System, we will bring you that ability. You will, for example, get a high-level crafter to cut your gems for you with no gems ever leaving your inventory! This system will be useful across a multitude of different skills and will be very easy to get to grips with.
The popular 'Make-X' option makes its way to the Smithing skill this month, so a blacksmith will be able to happily hammer away at an entire inventory of bars without multiple clicks. This month also sees the release of the penultimate cave goblin quest. Ever since Zanik emerged from the mines below Lumbridge she has been faced with troubles very much of the H.A.M. variety. A different challenge faces her in this quest, which will require stealth and subterfuge to complete, taking you to places that have never been seen by human eyes, including some that have only been noted in goblin fable. Will a discovery of monumental proportions help bring the goblin tribes together? Only time will tell. Listen well and show your true knowledge to find a path to the Land of the Goblins. As a result of numerous suggestions, we will also be making some changes to the skills interface. For one, we will be adding a 'How much xp till my next level?' statistic to each skill, so that you know just how close you are to achieving your goals! Also this month, we will be introducing some fantastic changes to the Duel Arena. We have drawn information from a recent poll, various suggestions from players, forum posts and general feedback to create some improvements. There was overwhelming support for tournaments, so we will offer enough room for 64 players and large prizes. You wanted more options on the Hiscores table, well, soon you will be able to track your Tournament Rank, which will reflect your Duel Arena awesomeness! Later in the month, we bring you the 'Grand Exchange'. This new building will be located in the north-west of Varrock and will house a huge new addition to the game: the ability to offer items to buy and sell across ALL servers and to ALL players! You might, for example, go to the Exchange and put a full Barrows set up for sale, for example - then, playing Skullball in Canifis, you might get a message telling you that they have sold and that you can go to the nearest bank to receive payment! The Grand Exchange will allow you to spend more time on the things you enjoy, providing a less time-consuming alternative to selling your items on the Forums or amongst the crowds of Varrock Marketplace. Add a Guaranteed Content poll, Players' Gallery, Postbag and a Development Diary, and you have a month to remember. We couldn't part from you without mentioning something very, very big on the horizon. The new year brings a stunning new update, and we are so happy with it that we are going to let a few hints trickle out over the next few weeks... I was going to put this on my blog, but I figured since I have updated it recently it'd be best if I posted it here. ha ha... __ It's not often that a BTS news update gets me interested, however, November's has certainly hyped me up a little bit. From what I gather from this month's BTS, we'll be getting some of the largest updates this year; 1) An "assist" system which will effectively allow other players to modify items in another players inventory. Which will cut out all of these "Free Gem Cutting" scams going on in F2P worlds. I'm unsure whether or not a high level crafter would be able to make a fury amulet for someone using this feature, but that would be helpful for those of us who like to sell our chaos and death runes to the TzHaar, yeah? 2) Make-X to smithing, although I'm very unsupportive of the X functions, will be a welcome addition for those of us who train smithing with iron knives, which currently requires us to select "Make 10 sets" three times per bag. Not particularly time consuming, but a little annoying nonetheless. I guess consistency is what this small update is about. 3) The final cave goblin/ham quest this month. Now that's very interesting, seeing as a lot of our multi-part questlines are still unfinished. Could Jagex be on their way to making the final quests in other popular storylines, like The Myreque and the Plague City one? I'd like to think so, but they have been giving the cave goblins a lot of attention recently, don't you think? Will this "discovery of monumental proportions" be as good as they say it will though? Considering that the Cave Goblin questline is a short one, I would think not. 4) How much experience until my next level? Great for those who're bad at maths, and will probably be entered into the game with a lot of smaller ones like it. 5) Dueling Tournamants? More clan support Jagex? Aren't you feeling generous! This sounds great, although I doubt I'll be able to find a team of 63 or 127 people to play with, I can see this being a big hit with the larger clans. 6) The "Grand Exchange"... being able to shove abyssal whips, rune boots and granite mauls in this thing as soon as I finish the respective slayer task will certainly be a great help to me. Not only will I get as much money as I want, I lose the risk of being scammed and I can keep slaying while they're being sold for me! Just... WoW. (Sorry!) 7) "We couldn't part from you without mentioning something very, very big on the horizon. The new year brings a stunning new update, and we are so happy with it that we are going to let a few hints trickle out over the next few weeks..." ... Yeah, now that's something they don't do often. A lot of people are thinking summoning, but 'everything' is summoning to someone. I'm going to be looking out for these hints. |

You just made me think of this- perhaps the big update is the ending to the Plague City story-line and opening of that place in the Eleven Lands? Although, I usually get these kinds of things wrong. XD There's only one way to find out, and thats to wait ![]() My favourite part of this is the Grand Exchange, Im annoyed with searching forums and not finding what I want, whether its a seller or buyer. This will be the biggest update this year definately. |

Creepy, it is F2P and P2P, atleast thats what I asume what they mean by ALL servers and ALL players. F2P are players too! Sounds like one of the best months ever. Can't wait to see what happens. Too bad I just lost my membership but still, lots of fun things for F2P as well. |

Sounds like a great month. I can barely wait for the grand exchange, thats gonna be awesome. No more having to spend hours on the forums to sell something. Woot! Tournament on duel arena is just great. I've also been waiting for the smithing 'x' option for quite some time now. Sounds great. I wonder what the 'stunning' update will be. I'm not so sure it will be summoning either. They never said anything like this before construction first came out. But then again, construction isn't that great of a skill. Looks like a great month. |

I can't wait for the auctionhouse style trading house to be released! Friends who play WoW have told me about it, and I've been hoping that Jagex would steal some ideas....I mean realize more ways to make RuneScape better ![]() |

It's all going to depend on how it works. If jagex does it right, allows f2p and p2p, allows you to set your own price and only allow people to buy at that price. Then it'll remove the need for world 1 and 2, they shouldn't be used anymore tbh. |

Good! Most of these updates look really interesting, and the Smithing 'x' option was awaited for long! I might get interest back in Smithing now heh! |

If you can sort the price of items, the grand exchange could also stop merchanting. |

Which would be a great idea IMO... Skillers and non-noobs would rule the world now ![]() |
