Tried posting this elsewhere but didn't get too much discussion, so... I did some number-crunching using a very scientific process which I shall term "winging it" and discovered that the top 50,000 clans, sorted by number of clanmates, vary from 9-500 people and have an average of 31 clanmates. Total, they have a combined 1.56M members, approximately. Of course, this is mostly just an intellectual curiosity. It doesn't account for inactive accounts, multiple accounts owned by the same person in a clan or different clans, or inactive clanmates, but I suppose it is a start. What do you think the average number of clanmates for a clan is these days? |

I can see where he is coming from. There are plenty of "clans" that have one or two members, so you can't really count them for an accurate representation of the average. I used to be in a clan that was very unadvertised (they would put up their recruitment banners, that was about it) but they had close to 50 members. If I had to guess, it would probably be around the mid 40s to 50 for the true average for active clans. |

As far as I figure, most clans aren't that large in size. This is probably because most clans consists of rl friends/in-game friends/occasional random people. 30 is a pretty good number. Unless a clan is that popular or active, I wouldn't imagine it being that big. |
