Post subject:  Bots
What is your opinion on bots? Personally I'm in the "I don't know category" because I dont like bots but I'm concerned with the effects that not having them would cause. Mostly the economy tbh, but also how much money Jagex makes off of them, if that money wasnt there would that effect the amount of servers, future updates, etc. But what are your thoughts on this issue?

They don't bother me to much. I mean, I would love not to have them in the game, but since I mostly do Slayer now, they really don't affect me.

im right with ranging god on the subject of bots. Until bots are made to pvm, or pvp than im gonna be doing fine.

As for if i ever go for 99 woodcutting... ill probably just chop ivy and hope there arent many bots around that are making the ivy go away too fast -.-

i do sort of hate how there are now staking bots.. now it's a bit more difficult to get first hit or hit at the same time. but idk.. i havent ran into any bots yet at the dual arena so maybe people just havent caught on to that bot yet

Staking bots? Wow, is it like a bot that can auto detect you and hit you first? That is crazy.

from what i read it said it would. It has the switching technique of switching between defensive and accurate with boxing matches too i think. I've got the timing down though so as long as i don't lag than i usually can do just as well as the bot.

horrible what Runescape has came to =/

lol i even dreamed a couple nights ago that jagex outright allowed botting. i woke up and realized it was just a bad dream haha think i was talking to shane that night about how runescape was going downhill from February 2nd . musta sparked that dream :P

Bots definitely need to be banned from the game. Completely controlled. Regardless of the effect on the economy. It is a dishonest way to gain an advantage and devalues the hard work that honest players put into achieving their levels. If the supply of materials goes down, the price goes up with demand being constant. Economics 101. If the price of basic supplies goes up, this provides an opportunity for those who manually work on their skills (instead of buying their skills) to dump some back into the GE and get paid a reasonable price. Low level players and F2P can actually make money, and basic "harvesting" of raw materials can then once again become a viable money maker. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Honest pay for honest work. Supply gathering should not be the work of bots. It should be real players. I should not have to compete for ranks in the hiscores against a macro running 24/7. That's just pathetic. The hiscores then mean nothing. Bots need to be exterminated completely. That is just my own honest and humble opinion.

I think I'm kind of in between here. I don't like them (they're really fun to mess with, especially the talking ones), but they are essential to the economy. On the other side of that, if there was a massive bot crackdown, prices would go up, encouraging players (myself included) to train skills like Mining and Fishing, and causing buyable skills to be more expensive. This would be balanced out by people making more money on other skills or going MM9 style. In the end, the removal of bots would cause currency to deflate, as it stays standard while other prices go up.

I really don't mind them. I mean it's a video game. sometimes their annoying. Most of the time I just ignore them.

I'm with Djinn, they honestly don't affect me at all. Other than I guess making some prices whack, but other than that I'm either Slaying/Dunging/Or PvMing and there never doing any of those. So i'm all good.

Really good points, but that doesn't answer the possible Jagex financial issues, but I honestly don't know how many bots are in game at this point and paying fir membership. And just a side note, Jagex does not have super powers :P
