A Quester's Dream

RS forums quick find code: 241-242-732-62421695

We've all seen it. You travel down into Feldip Hills to catch some carnivorous chinchompas, and they're there. You go to kill ghouls for a little extra combat xp, and they're there. You go to pretty much anywhere in Runescape where a skill can be trained quickly and efficiently and it's full of botters. I have been training for the past 3 weeks on getting 99 Cooking, and I realized something: there are about 15 people next to the Rogue's den fire, and 90% of them are not saying anything. I know Jagex is trying their best to get rid of botters, but it's just not working. There are even MORE than ever! To see this for yourself, go to the Sorceress' Garden on any world. A place that has (in my knowledge) never been a huge magnet for players, and yet now there are dozens of them inside the Summer Garden, following the exact same path to get to the herbs. Now we can try in vain to hype up security and get rid of botters, which (unfortunately) would make Jagex lose a good deal of revenue. OR, we could give us legit players something to work for.

I mean, let's face it, the pk system is totally nerfed. With the return of the wilderness, thousands of botters are returning to Runescape to use their bots to create the perfect pk pures and beast the living daylights out of legit players.

The skilling system is also a waste: what we legit players take months to do, the bots can do in a week.
Therefore, I bring to light the one thing that we legitters have to ourselves: Quests.

Just look at the facts: bots run when you are not at the computer so it can level your character up and you don't have to think about what to do for yourself. Quests require the two things that botters do not have: Time, and Problem Solving. If Jagex releases an update that is primarily focus on quests (E.G, new items, abilities, or just a different system that allows legit players to be recognized), the botters will be in the extreme disadvantage.

Think about it: Even if you don't like quests, you can still take the time to them and get the rewards whereas botters won't. I propose a revamp to the quest system, similar to the prestige system in the Funorb game Arcanists.
In Arcanists, once you have won enough battles against other players to buy all of the spells, you can use a feature called "Prestige." What "Prestiging" does is it unlocks a whole new spellbook and places a little mark above your characters head. Each time you "Prestige," the mark gets a little bigger and more defined, until you reach Level 10 Prestige. This Prestige mark helps destinguis* the more experienced players from the lesser, and generally when someone with Level 10 Prestige can easily defeat someone with Level 2.

So here's what I propose: A revamp of the quest journal that, once completed, allows you to go to the Wise Old Man (or other NPC's) and reset it. Upon resetting your questing journal, you will be transported back to Sir Vant's dungeon underneath Lumbridge and begin the Learning the Ropes quest. Your character will experience a "loss of memory," all of your quests will be set to "Not Started" (colored in red), and you can do them all again. Once you redo all the quests, you will receive a certain peice of exclusive equipment and an adjustment to the disign/color of your quest cape.

The first time you complete all the quests, you will be given a quest cape. Each time you reset your quest journal, then do all the quests again. Upon completing all of the quests, you talk to the Wise Old Man in Draynor Village and he gives you a exclusive item, with each item being better than the last. Your quest cape become trimmed with a different color, and one line in the quest symbol in the middle of your cape becomes colored with the same color your cape is trimmed with. Each time you complete the quests after resetting, the next line in the quest symbol gets colored. There are eight lines, so you can reset a total of eight times.
Additionally, each time you do a certain individual quest, the experience rewards you receive are higher.

So that's my idea, hope you guys like it. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the idea, or improve my thread please share. Thanks for reading!

I would LOVE! to do this, it would honestly give me something to do in RS again.

I can see 2 problems though,
firstly, some quests, namely while guthix sleeps and blood runs deep, give MASSIVE experience rewards, now i'm not sure how long it'd take to complete all the quests leading up to them, but it may or may not be necessary to lower the experience rewards they give.

EDIT: actually thinking about it it'd take at least 50 hours probably to get the 270 qp for wgs, with the experience of having already done the quests, so xp could easily stay as it it.

secondly, when a new quest comes out, would you have to complete it multiple times to get back onto your prestige level?

I in no way support this idea For one all quests lose there fun once you know what goes on. iv completed every quest except for the new elemental work shop cause i'm focusing on dungeering atm. And to reset all the quests would Lose the ability's given with them For example Desert Treasure you would no longer be able to use the spells rewarded.
And To be honest i do agree with you that bots have increased in a massive number, But at the same time in a way bots are needed in the game take some items for example like herbs there is a mass amount of bots collecting them and the people who run those bots sell the herbs for lowest making the herblore skill slightly cheaper to train Aswell as keeping the supply of herbs high without any bots the demand for items would be Huge making the prices probably 3x more than they cost atm.
And jagex waste to much time on fighting bots, even if you ban one they make a new account and start again it doesn't mater to them they didn't do any of the work, and jagex will never be able to stop them every counter measure jagex uses the botters over come and just keep getting more advanced. to be honest the way bots are i think the only way there banning them is from players reporting.
So its more off i think we should arrange a day were we all go around in groups and mass report bots that will probably get rid of a few of them
