Post subject:  Peacekeepers give away.
Now I have been wanting to do this for a while but this is only me prodding for some ideas.

Now I want to host a give away to the truly needy members of bandb... not to the people who already have millions of gold they dont know what to do with. We are all brothers and sisters here and I see some of us struggle to earn the gold that they have and it really does upset me.

I would like to see whether you would be interested in donating to help our less fortunate friends here in bandb or perhaps participate in the receiving of gifts...

There are problems with the fact that there are unfortunately very greedy people among us that would try to sneak in to get free stuff, even though they do not fit my requirements. I have only talked to two people about this so far and would like to get some nice opinions and maybe some ideas for making this possible. If and when it happens I will make a post in far greater detail, or you can pm me for details and I will gladly explain what my plans are...

Help me out here guys.

Yea. I don't see myself playing again full time. I can donate as long as I know it is going to the people who need it.

i think can donate a couple hundred k gp, though i don't know how much you want to gather. Also, would you put up a list of those that may be needing money, armor, food and the like with what they need. either that or just a plain list of items to give out to noobs in lumby if you want to do that too.

I'm actually planning on giving away 100 mil of my own money, and this is going to be amond rsband... the needy people in rsbandb get this stuff... people in lumby can go get their own gold... I do not want you to hand me money, during the event day I want YOU to hand the people who truly need it... so they know who to thank.

I ask this because while I think 100mil of my own money would be enough to help our guys out, I would like to maybe get a bit more for people... warren you'll be giving me another 100m, you anti-commi!

Items work too.

This isnt just us giving them money, its a party of my 6th birthday in bandb =\ and on my 6th birthday I just happen to be giving money to those who actually need it... to make it perfectly clear I'm not trying to pressure anyone into doing anything.

Sounds like this should be a drop party rather than charity. Drop parties can accomplish the same thing.

sounds like you want to be a democrat asking congress full of republicans.

honestly the hard is finding who are the "needy" people of the forum whom many basically do not contributing to the forum.

I also agree just do a drop party. Handouts generally don't work, people take advantage of it.

I will not be just handing out free stuff... ill be doing a trivia type give away... as more time goes on and I have a better idea of what to expect... it definitely wont just be a handout

That made me smile. :P But ya, people usually don't ask for stuff around here. I still think a drop party would be effective. People who need stuff come and, for the most part, people get something. Otherwise, I would just give out stuff like you are suggesting. Make it a personal thing.

The idea does not fit a drop party though, I want to give something to people in bandb who NEED it... a drop party would just be rich people getting even more rich.

A drop party would just completely defeat the point of what I want to do... unless I only invited those who needed it. in which case the people that have suggested drop party wouldn't actually be present.

I still have a couple problems with the plan that I need to work out... but I'm still looking for ideas at the time being

Rich getting richer is the fundamental principle of life. Even if you disrupt that order, nature will correct itself to the true path. Macbeth got killed for disrupting that order, why risk it?

Drop parties are slanted towards those who are skilled at predicting where items are dropped. Why do you wish to give out wealth to those without skill? I think the best way to benefit the needy would to be give the gp in its entirety to the person who can prove they are the wealthiest there. The more wealthy you are, the more hardworking and skilled you are thus the more deserving of more money you are.


In actuality I could give a little bit depending how it's done. If you're putting up 100M, even if it was a give away and even with 20 people there deemed "needy", you would be making them all as wealthy as me... So I wouldn't donate to that since there would already be enough in the mix.
