First, we get a new GWD boss. Then, we get a wolf that, when killed, gives 10 hours of double combat experience. And now, we're get the wilderness back. I don't have anything against combat, but three updates in a row with absolutely no benefit to anyone using skills outside of the six or seven combat skills - and no other updates planned for this month - lead me to believe that Jagex is targeting the "omg kill stuff" crowd instead of the people that will use the other seventeen skills they programmed into the game.

Are we ever going to see a noncombat addition again?

Only 3 consecutive combat updates I don't think is much to make conclusions that anything has changed lol. There probably have been 3 consecutive skiller updates at one point too. But much of the game already revolves around combat and for them to add another way to become rich through combat only is nothing new. The only way to make money with skills is generally rather low amounts per hour, but I guess at least it is a steady amount per hour. Combat has all the get 500m within a second ways so that aspect is nothing new. I agree on the Hati wolf, if they're going to make a Holiday event and have the reward target skills, well they should probably have a greater range.
And wildy back is just an attempt to take the game a step back altogether. I don't really see that as benefiting combat, more "benefiting" pvp.

I think earning exp for members has been boosted in numerous ways. The fact remains it's a heck of a lot easier to level any skill as a member over free-to-play. So I wouldn't complain too much. You have it relatively easy. And face it. More people will be interested in PvP and combat skills on this initial release. They'll have updates for non-combat skills in the future, rest assured.

No one cares about skillers.

Just think of all the money you can make with Herblore and Farming now that potions will be in demand!

Oh and Hummerwar, everyone is entitled to their own favourite account type. Teleport tablets were clearly made for skillers in mind.

I agree with you Shane, but sadly not many people see it my way.. In their mind the market won't budge from what it is now and there will be no increased demand in anything PvP wise. I guess we will find out when it comes out.

RuneScape wouldn't be much of a game with a bunch of combat fanboys running around (there's already enough of those as it is). If all the GWD prods and PvPers couldn't buy their mass amounts of arrows and food from skillers, I would like to see the market spike that would cause.. Think about it: people that don't enjoy skilling either quit RS after a while and/or move on to play WoW if they don't already. WoW is virtually a combat driven game. RuneScape is not. Which is why it's hard for me not to laugh in the face of anyone that says WoW is just RuneScape with better graphics.

But I agree with Ben. Jagex needs to come off their little combat streak and launch some skill-related updates. I've been waiting far too long for the smithing rework. I would at least like to hear some confirmation that it is still in development.

I think part of the problem Dave is that for a lot of people, grinding skills isn't nearly as fun as going out with a few friends to kill some monsters. I don't think JaGEx (I emphasize the right capitalization in the name, kind of like with VALVe) has forgotten skillers, it's just combat is generally much more popular, and there's almost no incentive to skill with your friends or other people in general with the exception of conversation. JaGEx needs to make skills a little more interactive, with bonuses for team-work like in combat (more trees cut down, more fish fished, but shared with the group, more crop yield, etc. for faster xp gain) for having done more things in a group rather than solo.

Pretty sure Jagex, JAGeX, JaGeX are the ways it's officially been written. XD In terms of what it stood for tho Java Audio and Graphics Extension then Java Gaming Experts then Just About Gaming Experience

But I don't think because non combat has no friend incentive and thus less popular means they should focus on combat, more reason to do non combat..

Hahahahahahahahahah!!! Pure gold! I can't tell you how many messages I get daily: "can you assist me 97 con/rc/smith"

Who are these people that ask me these questions constantly? Players wearing full bandos, dfs, whip, etc. In other words, combat junkies. People constantly cry that so many skills are now 'assistable' 99s like Farming and claim to have lost their respectability. Really? Then why are we (skillers) spammed with assist requests and sometimes offered cash for our assistance that combat fanboys are too lazy to train? Most of which we trained before the assist system was released.

There's definitely a balance that needs to be maintained between the two so let's hope that Jagex realizes this, as well, and tries to keep it that way.

I bet next month there will be a new quest, and skiller updates.
