Seeing the world from a first person view generally involves seeing objects much closer than we currently see them which given the current graphics would make most objects look terrible. Also take into account that several objects such as trees aren't meant to be seen from such a low angle and just wouldn't look right. However, a piece of content like a quest puzzle or activity could be interesting if they did use a first person perspective. |

I agree, 3rd person view has traditionally been better for MMO's. Also, I don't think that Runescape's graphics are up to par for a first-person approach to it. |

Meh, it'd be fun to play for like a day, but I would get old pretty fast, btw there's a youtube video that shows RS being played in first person |

Eh, the concept seems a little annoying. I have to agree that the 3rd person is often times the best perspective to play an RPG in. Like was mentioned before, the graphics would probably have to be improved a lot before it could be realistic. Otherwise, it would be a very pixelated gameplay. |

gotta love oblivion. i don't think it would really work, i think it would cause more problems than it would make awesome. imagine being in a multi zone and having no idea where the monster is attacking you from. and also think about the "dance" when you try to fight a huge monster |

but in real life if somone trys to knife your back, you wont see them comming. mabye they can show were your atacker is in halo, and stuff |

It would look pretty cool but I would say don't have it. MMORPG's are supposed to be 3rd person. It would get a lot of time adjusting to 1st person and it might look weird. 3rd person is fine with me. |

Yeah, I'm totally good with 3rd person. Like mentioned above, it would cause problems with multiway combat. |

Even if you could play in 1st person, I would play in 3rd because first person field of vision is way to small. |

I just want it to be like every other mmorpg out there in terms of camera controls. zoom in/out with mouse wheel, full zoom in puts you in FPM. hold right click to change camera angle. click / wasd movement. because of rs using a grid land system there would of course have to be a camera angle detection to tell which direction you're trying to go. right click held down A/D = strafe, otherwise rotate camera. their movement system is just so backwards its frustrating sometimes. |

Regarding Runescape and first person, the first picture that came into my head was "Doom". I can visualize the idea of a runescape mini-game, set in a 3D dungeon with a first person view. Can you say, Dungeoneering "Doom style", lol. I remember lots of hours spent playing games like Doom and Wolfenstein. The graphics seemed great at the time, but now they seem primative. Certainly, any attempt by Runescape to do something along those lines couldn't be any worse in the graphics department. |
