Hi everybody. I looked aruond and fell over this Spoiler for Language in external forum:
It is about some legendary hacker that is planning to hack millions of Runescape accounts New Years Eve. And then he made a list of all the victims. Check it out and give your opinions, do you think it is real or not? Is your name on the list? Does he just bulls*** everybody to make them scared? And i can tell mine isn't but alot of my friends is . One of my friends changed name 3 mounth ago and he's login name is on the list. Read the thread and some of the comments. Btw, don't worry it is safe to download the list, just did it my self. And if this is in the wrong section, then i am very sorry, i didn't really knew where to post something about a major hack on RS. :O |

Well, then it is still going to steal alot of accounts :O I know atleast five who downloaded it. And btw how in the world does a textdokument hack you? I ran all my anti-spyware on it and it was only the list. EDIT: Now i am thinking about it. Then it is probably fake, cause why haven't anybody done it before? But it is still wierd that some of my friends login names is on the list.. |

There's no way one person can hack that many accounts at once without exploiting a security exploit, and I'm sure Jagex keeps their servers secure. If someone did somehow manage to hack this many accounts at once, Jagex would surely do a rollback to a recent backup, so you have nothing to worry about. That post is simply trolling with a copy of the top 1 million players off the hiscores organized by name. |

It doesn't bother me too much, but there's always that voice inside of my mind saying: Oooh crap! What if this is true? Like mike said: It just seems like a list of the top 1 million players sorted by name. Either away... There's always a solution for the most complicated problems. Nothing will be lost. |

April Fools? Nah wrong day mate lol. Let's see, if a hacker is THAT awesome, how come he spend time hacking accounts of a stupid game? That's pretty lame. What would he do with 1 million account anyways? lol I don't believe any of this. But I'm very curious to see what is going to happen ![]() |

Well, I checked, and I'm not on the list or any close people that I know of. I did have to lol at Zezima being on the list. But I figure if I'm not on the list, I won't care anyway. I doubt it will happen, though. I wouldn't worry too much about it. |

Well, i think is its fake too. But i also have that voise in my head saying "Yes, but what if it is real?!" And i can tell you guys that it is not just a list of the top million best players in the game. There is newbs on it too. Why is he going to do? I mean it says somewhere in the thread that i has something to do with getting a Guinness world record. |

The rapidshare download reached the limit for free users. Hello5000 from Damage inc uploaded this new file: http://www9.speedyshare.com/data/326561 ... %201%20000%20000.txt No download required. You view the file in your browser. EDIT: People are saying this page crashes in Firefox - Windows. I'm currently in Firefox - Linux. Can anyone confirm the crash? |

Agreed. 1 million accounts, most of which are members, would be a large enough amount that Jagex would do a rollback from the night before. I'm sure Jagex backs up their files every night, if not more often. Yes, lots of people would complain from all the lost time between the rollback point and the hack but the amount that would complain is so minimal when compared to the amount who would complain and quit if they didn't rollback. To hack that many it would either require an exploit like Mike said or many thousands of computers all trying to hack a few accounts each. If he wasn't using an exploit then he's probably Brute Forcing. Brute Force just runs random strings of characters in the password field until it finds the right one. My Password article on the informer talks about brute forcing. Considering Runescape locks an account for 10 minutes after about 5 failed logins it'd be almost impossible to brute force one account in a day, let alone one million accounts. Alex_SE wrote: Hello5000 from Damage inc Hello5000 and Damage INC sound familiar. Were either of them related to the Durial incident? |

Yeah I think this is kind of hard to beleive. This guys just trying to scare people. Honestly what are the chances of this guys actually hacking all of these people. Hacking is difficult to do. You either need a key logging program, which is unrealistic because you need it to be on a disk inside the persons computer. You can know the password, but this too, is unrealistic. The only way they can just know your password is if you give it to them. The last way I know of is if you accidentally put your user name into a fake website. These are all very clever but now realistic. |
