There have been some strange goings on in the market place in the last few weeks. Prices of even the most ordinary items have fluctuated. There has been a lot of mutterings about market manipulation by groups of wealthy players. At times it has been impossible to buy at mid price or even just above common every day items. Price updates appear more frequent and in general the market has appeared more unstable. Rich players can buy 25k rune scimitars over the course of several days, then when the price rises, merchanters will notice and begin to collect the item. Then, the original player can sell his 25k rune scimitars to merchanters or everyday players at the increased price, giving a huge profit. The question is (assuming the above is correct) what can be done to stop this manipulation, and will JAGeX bother? |

Eh, I dont really see this as a problem to be honest. I mean Jagex said to use it as a merchant tool. |

You can tell that jagex is fixing the prices to be locked in place or fall, then almost never go up, I mean, look at the rare items (party hats, santa hats, masks) have all been the same price for a while, while most other items (2 of the common items being dragon axe and whip from what I noticed) have rising and falling. The Top Hat went up to about 1.5M then dropped to 700k and has stayed, so we can safely say no, they will not fix it. |

Meh, it's economics. Look at the real world stock market. The same thing happens. Jagex has already done enough to retrict the market. |

I don't see a problem with it, you could do the exactly the same thing before but it would take more time. Jagex has stated that the grand exchange can and should be used as a merchanting tool and as Ryan says stock holders manipulate prices everyday in the real world. |

You should be happy that the g/e is established. It limits how much merchants can gain. Before the g/e we could gain any amount we wanted to. |

well i know a group of friend who does this to join this club you need over 500m ish. with 500m+ per person in this club it wouldnt be hard to make an item go up also jagex try to fix this such as riseing some item each day so more people would be selling it such as animal masks. also 3rd age item as been riasing one every few days instead of months waited before.

Hasn't enough been done already to control prices? Geesh. It's already a socialistic system, you want to make it communistic?

The only way they could stop GE manipulation is to set static prices, greatly limit gp an individual can have or to set limits on the amount individuals can trade in a week. None of which I'd think are going to happen or even desireable. |

you made me lought jagex gives a **** about this they aded buy limits ect but they don't control prices i mean remmeber then bloods costed less then deaths that was epic. If you search you can find more lover items costing more then higher wich is ridiculiuos. I think jagex at least should control that such stuff won't happen. |

If what you want is a free market (which is what I assume you want), then this kind of trading cannot be prohibited. And, as stated earlier, this kind of thing happens in real life; just look at food prices. |

If Jagex hates this so much then they shouldn't have even added the Grand Exchange to begin with. It's their fault they do not know how to properly manage the games economy. |

Unfortunatly, no. Jagex cares to much about making money, not the game. |
