Post subject:  Comment on the Granite Maul

Well I have a Granite Maul... my first one I dropped at the P2P Party, and just bought another one today...

About the special attack, I believe it is over-rated, I can hit about the same with a Dragon Scimmy, and usually more with the Dragon Dagger. Also with the Dragon Dagger i can usually use the spec about 3 times before it recharges, give much more damage.

Also, many people think that when you go dueling wearing Full Rune and like a Dragon Scimmy, and you switch to using a Maul, you are cheating. They shun you from further dueling on that world by calling you a "Mauler"

Why should this be considered cheating? YOu're just using a weapon like any other? Is it cheating by in the middle of a duel to switch to a Dragon Dagger to poison then back to a Scimmy? I dont think so.

Overall, I think this weapon is slightly over-rated. It's not as good as many people might think. It might own in the wild, but it's a risk because other items rate over it in game-price, so you'd lose iot even with Protect Item prayer.

And in duels, while it does hit high, other weapons can hit just as well, but other weapons dont get you called a "cheater"

Just my 37 cents.

Yes, Yes, Yes...

THe weapon is part of the Game! I do not see why people call others cheaters when they use a maul or something else that is powerful. It is a part of the game that jagex made.

The same idea goes with prayer in wilderness and duels. If people forget to bring prayer pots or whatever they call the other person a cheater if they start using prayer. They are just mad that they did not take the equipment needed. It is once again a part of the game.

Everything that can be done in the game is perfectly legit 100% of the time. It's just like people that complain about something they signed up to do, Boo-Hoo to them is my motto. :-({|=

I have not had a chance to test out the maul, but it seems like it is a good choice.

That pretty much sums up the way most think. Anyways, I agree with Dan. Good post, Dan :)

Enkidutorix; this age's modern Runescape philosepihiser. You do have a point Dan, people whine and cast stones when you do something they can't. That's just the way it is though.

The only time i ever got mad when dueling is when a friend and i stated "as is" which we both know as meaning as you are now, no weapon or armor changing once the duel starts. He agreed and changed as soon as the duel started hoping i wouldn't notice. Otherwise it's a normal weapon (however i don't care for the maul) and part of the game so don't see why people should be so upset.

Yes, I agree.

Few days ago, I went to my house to visit my friend. He was at the duel arena with a maul. He had a dragon dagger wield before dueling.
Well, he striked 3 special with it a start what ppl call, "mauling" .
That level 90 was really upset. Like Dan said, "Mauler" , this name was given to him.

Actually when you play castle wars, you can see that Maul isn't really that good. I'd rather have a Dragon Scimitar.

Anyways, I'll stop the story telling, and get on to topic :P
Sooner or later, I believe the game-price is going to drop.

Edit: My friend is level 89 "Holyknight23" , also, he lost that duel :P

It's not unfair, it is your risk to duel other people especially with stake, jagex never guarantteed that nothing is going to change... so what if u are a mauler

jagex made all weapons balanced, so be happy with em

Charge then hit a 60.

I dislike the Maul for its bad training ability, it isn't the sort of training weapon I thought it would be when I bought it. I could hit alot more with drag long, so I just sold it. If I was a dueler/pker then I'd have kept it, seeing as my friend 3 hit a level 122 on his first day of pking with it.

Moral: When training, it doesn't do well to hit things with a hammer, when training at someone else's expence whilst trying to keep your *** off the line, by all means, MAUL THE BUGGER!

That seems like a good tactic to use :D
When I join members in a week, what's the first thing I should get? I was thinking of a Maul...

wut i dont get is why ppl think the maul is so great. u can hit better with a dragon long's special than with maul u just dont get the 2 special shots right in that first second of combat and after u waste ur special meter the thing is useless. a dragon long u can get a good 3 -4 specials outta it and if ur att and str are decent enough u got 3 - 4, 25+'s and by then most ppl are dead or to busy eating to retaliate on u b4 u can finish them off. where as the maul once it's special is out u got a weapon that's so slow and inaccurate that if ur opponent got ne food down while u were unleashing the specials that they can heal up and knock u back down.
