you can't make planks because construction is a money draining skill, and giving planks for free would just make it pointless.

Construction is there to waste your money on, nothing more.

actually anubis, i really don't understand why you have to pay 4200gp for 1k exp... i think that once it gets up to costing 1m for a level, there should be a quest that will either discount your planks or allow you to make them. sort of like a one small favour, but for the sawmill operator.

if it discounted, i'd say half price on all planks, if it let you cut them yourself, then by my previous description, that'd be about level 80 construction. so level 80 you could cut normal planks, 85 oaks, 90 teaks, and 95 mahogany.

it'd be a nice way to regulate the price of experience. it would also change the cost for 99 from about 60 million gold, to 25 million. far more affordable, yet still out of reach of the general public. bear in mind for most of the high level house objects you need a few million gold anyway, so its really just overkill. a steel dragon is like 12 million right? and to build some of the items near 99, you need lots of building crystals, marble blocks, and gold leafs, which are 1m, 100k, and 300k respectively, i think. its expensive enough already.

Naw, I'm completely against making construction cheaper in any way now. Imo it's there for people with the money to waste, to waste it on. It'd be a pointless and boring skill if it was cheap, as it gives no major bonuses, other than the obvious few, just things to show off.

25m is far too cheap to raise a skill to 99 anyway, that's cooking...

Why? It's called the "Runescape Mafia". It's for your own protection that we make all your planks for you. You could get hurt doing it yourself, understand?

Technically you can make yourself planks, with the lunar spell "Make plank" you get after completing dream mentor.

Is The "make plank" spell cheaper then taking them to the sawmill? Because if it is bhh can just use that..Also what magic level is it?

It requires level 86 ... that's right, EIGHTY-SIX magic, as well as 2 astrals and 1 nature rune if you have an earth staff.

But yes, you still use money, and you DO get a discount. If you ask me, though, it's only worth doing on mahogany planks. They only gost 1070 instead of 1500. Plus, you can only make one at a time.

Still, it's good exp (90 exp per casting), and the spell itself looks pretty cool, and you can sell the planks themselves to replace the money ...

construction may be A money draining skill just like in real life but for us who don't have very much money under 1MIl In cash at the moment

do you say DON'T TRAIN CONSTRUCTION !!!???????? as I don't have any money to waste ...

In my opinion construction was implemented into the game to be a money drainer. That's what Jagex wanted- to take more money out of the economy. It would go against what they wanted, and keep in mind that it's too late to change it now. I would be really upset if I sold my party hats and wasted it all on getting as much XP as possible, to have it changed to cost hardly anything the next month.

This would of had to be implemented a few weeks after the release, if at all.

No, I don't think you say "don't train construction" to you, but more like don't train it as much until you're ready. Getting a high level in construction feels a lot better if you've spent a fortune on it. At least, until the realize that you've spent a fortune hits you.

Personally I think the prices are fair, even if I can't afford to train the skill most of the time. But the sawmill operator must live an extremely good life. ;)

I pretty much agree with everyone else who has said, to the general effect, that Construction was implemented to drain money from the economy. I was playing pre-construction, and now after. Prices did change, and many did not change back to their pre-construction days. Anything that was easily sellable for quick cash was liquidated, ie: barrows sets, weapons, (some) rares. The prices for all but the few rares have not even come close to coming back up, somewhat showing how the price of the gp "increased".

Though being able to make planks would be great, it would cheapen the skill to something every player with 20m or more would buy.
