Post subject:  Half way to 99? Guess again!

Most newbies hear the number 50 as a person's skill level, and think that's half way to 99. 99/2=49.5~50

But not many realize that level 92 is half way to 99.

So, why does it seem to take so long to get a new level each time?

Here's why:

Image

The blue line is the lowest possible exp for each level
The red line is the amount of difference between the min exp amounts for each level
I put in the max exp, too, just so you can see how far up that is.
If we count the max exp in the halfway thing, we have about level 97 for that... Meaning the level midpoint is:
llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
lllllll
And for max exp, the midpoint is:
lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
lll
I bet that when you were new you thought the middle was here:
llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I already knew this. A friend advised me about it when I mentioned once that I was half way to 99 when I turned level 50 in a skill. Thanks for posting this anyways, though. :)

I knew this since I learned about fansites and saw an XP at level chart. But I knew before that the middle wasn't level 50ish because the XP to next level always increased. Its kind of sad, having 7 more levels to be maxed out, but your actually half way there.

After all, levels are based on exp, not the actual level itself.

Level 92 is 6,517,254 exp. Whereas Level 99 is about 13 million experience.

Most skills will go quicker on the second half as you have more experience to begin with.

Not even at half but you're most likely gonna get it anyway!

On topic: I never really thought the middle was 50 because at lvl 1 you need 83 xp to get to lvl 2, and the xp from 2 to 3 was different.. Also, even if you don't look at your experience you can see with time that it's harder to get from 10 to 11 than 1 to 2. But yeah if you only look at your levels it might confuse some people ^^'

Yeah, one of my friends crushed my dreams that way. :( A long time ago I got 50 in one of my skills (forgot which one) and I was like "Halfway to 99!" He told me that the halfway level is around 92'ish. That made me sad.

Nice chart by the way.

I knew it long time ago, also by the exp charts.

Btw, what's the equation of min exp to level?

But for me, I am going for 99 herblore, I make money when I am leveling it, and the more money I have, the faster I will get xp, and the faster I will gain more money.

I am about 1/3 the way there (Time wise), but about 17/100 the way there. (xp wise)

Post subject:  setting up a general guidline...

Nice job on figuring that out... but allow me to elaborate... a few months ago i got all obsessed with calculating everything out on my ti-83, and had a bunch of formulas and exp tables in the lists, etc.

the half way level you "discovered," is actually the exp rule in runescape. select any level at random (not 1-10, they dont follow the rule), and look at its exp. 7 levels up from that will be twice that exp, and 7 levels down will be half that exp, approx. this also follows suit for the ammount of exp req'd to gain those levels.

it helps with planning a lot as well... say yoru goal is 70 and you're at 50 right now, you're only about 1/7th the exp there, still a long way to go. even mroe inerestingly, the levle 50 exp is only 1/128th the exp of level 99 =P
(99-50 = 49 levels, or 7x7, which is [1/2]^7 = 1/128)

in a topic a while ago, i actually tracked the correct extention of the exp to the final amount... (sorry but yours wasa off by a lot, considering the max exp is 200 million, not 20 million ;] ) i'll make either a link or an edit to that later just for kicks, but the basics of it was 13mill x 2 = 26 mill at level 106, x2 = 52mill at level 113, x2 = 104 mill at level 120, and what a coincedince, when you max out at 200 mill exp in a skill, continuing the level scale would put you at level 126 =P

(bear in mind that level 98 is 12 mill exp, x2 x2 x2 x2 = 192mill would be teh exp necessary for 126, the extra 8 mill would be extra useless exp.)

connecting this, the 13 mill in each of the 7 combat stats required for 126 combat, totals to about 95 mill total exp, close to half the req'd exp to break 126 skill level (if the level cap were removed). hmmm, connection? i wonder if that works for other levels as well?

take one good look at the tip.it experience table and you can deduce all of this in less than 10 minutes if you're smart =P

200 mil!!! that would take forever... and, why would anyone do that? I thought it was 20 mil... so half way is... LEVEL 99!!! Actually, it's 86,965,569exp over 99, meaning, if you had a maxed skill and could transfer exp from one skill to another... you could get another skill up to 94... more than half way to 99...

i found this out like on the third day i've ever played. not like i knew it was level 92, but i did realise that xp-wise, the level 49,5 isn't halfway.

i found the fact about level 92 being the exact middle point about 3 months ago.
