First of all, i'm not saying that the Ddp++ is overpowered, and i'm not insisting that it be changed. I'm just making a discussion about it.

Do you ever wonder why Jagex made the Ddp++ so powerful? I mean, it's possible to hit over 50...with a dagger. It's the second cheapest dragon weapon in the game (Next to the Dragon Mace, now that I think about it even that hits extremely high). When you watch a pk'ing video, I estimate that one of the players ends up dying to a surprise Ddp++ spec at least 75% of the time. With pures, it's even deadlier. They can have the levels of a level 110+ at levels around 75'ish. Players at level 75 generally have around 60-70 hitpoints. Now a level 75 (I'm not sure if that's the level) pure with 99 strength can come up to another level 75 un-pure and kill him in 2 special attacks. Does that seem right to you?

Now don't get me wrong, I love the Ddp++. It's a fun weapon to use to see how much you can hit. But I just wonder, what was Jagex thinking when they made it so powerful?

Its not so powerfull as a weapon, its the fact it has 4 special attacks, Range would be powerfull like it used to when you could double special, but 4 range specials? that speed, unbeatable. They should limited it to 2, still that would be a powerfull attack.

I think it is too overpowered. The amount of Specials should be reduced.

dds is way to powerfull, and also i think range special with magic short is under powered now, range needs 2 specials.

Also I'd like to mention (which I know has been mentioned before elsewhere)

The Dragon Dagger's special is increased accuracy, whereas the Magic Shortbow's is decreased...

Add's to the frustration to rangers, who are only superior at levels 35-50 where their range varies from 50-70

Things Jagex should do.

Make the Ddp++ a little less acurate with the special at least. I mean...the player pretty much lunges and swings the dagger everwhere.

Increase the accuracy of the special and make it so you can do 2 specials one after the other instead of having to wait.

Basically we're getting down to an accuracy issue.

The problem lies not with the weaponry, but the one who's getting stabbed. ;-)

With the problem of people wanting newer and stronger weapons, Jagex needs to realise that 99 Health is too low. Like you said - The DD can easily hit over 50s and with poison that's devastating after 4 specials - I propose that HP is done like this;

Lv 10 HP = 30 Health Points
Lv99 HP = 297 Health Points
-
It can be displayed on the top left corner of the screen, like every other game of this type - and it will deplete like normal.

yeah, im a total defense noob... a few days ago i went pking in edgy as a mage, just chilling out. talking with a friend and looking for prey from far casting distance. then out of nowhere a player comes up and scores doubel 27s on me, thats 54 damage in 1 attack, and because of the daggers swiftness in attack repetitions, i couldn't activate any prayers before the second hit came and i was dead. thats double-bull. not only does it show that the dds is way cheap, but it also shows that defense doesn't play enough of a role in the combat scheme... 85 str and 80 attack should not overpower 75 defense that dramatically. but that is besides the point.

another observation, whenever i go to the wilderness chaos druids beneath edgeville, i don't wear very much armor because the druids are level 13 weaklings and I'm protecting more from their weaken spell than i am form their punches. whenever someone decides to kill me to get the NOTHING that i am wearing, they specifically change their weapon from their far superior dragon long swords, scimitars, and abyssal whips, to the lowly dds just to get off the specials. I'm frequently left incapacitated by 1 special and must run for dear life to get out of the wilderness so i can employ the emergency "oh no im going to die" stratagy (home porting and switching to a free world so when i die from poison the free-loaders cant see and take my items and i can just walk five steps to go pick them all up... genious!! =] )

i do think it needs to be redesigned. 2 specials is enough, for a deadly sneak attack, so if jagex ever did decide to change it, I'd vote for either 40% drain or 60% drain.

I agree with the idea but wouldn't that make
just about everything harder to kill?

Well, only players would get the boost. Monsters would remain the same.

Why should short, stubby humans get to have more hitpoints then a steel dragon?

Ultimately, the problem for the dragon dagger lies in the number of times you can use the special. If that was decreased, there would be more of a fair fight.

On the other hand, you said that the dragon dagger is the second cheapest weapon in the game. What's stopping you complainers from buying a dragon dagger of your own and fighting back?

I believe the defence of the Steel Dragon is what makes it strong, not it's health or power. :)
