Post subject:  Most Useful and Useless updates ever?
Hmm, over the past 5 or 6 years, runescape has had the privilege to receive some amazing updates, and perhaps a little more often than that, there has been a couple of seemingly pointless updates to come also.

Since we're most likely to remember the great updates, I want to know what are your 5 favourite updates of all time, and the 3 which you really think were thought up after the Jagex team went to the local pub and smoked quite a lot of that green stuff.

Also, say why, just so the topic doesn't just become a list. :P

Mine:

Favourite:
1) Slayer - What better way to train combat than this? If you find yourself bored of farming dagganoth for the last few levels towards that combat 100 milestone, this should be what you should be doing. (ironically, you're likely to get dagganoth if you do though.)
2) Barrows - "Free Stuff Plx?" Poor? Not any more! XD
3) TzHaar Fight Caves (?) - Killing the 702 is quite the thrill, especially if you've been trying for weeks.
4) Pest Control - Was hard to get a high combat stat last time round, this time I think it'll be a month or two before I get 85,85,85 again.
5) Jackals! - My favourite animal, alas, they don't drop jackal heads so I can wear them, but still quite cool.

Most likely to be inspired by weed:
1) Infinity Robes - More like "Hippie Robes".
2) Pigs - If I can't kill them, they're useless. I want bacon.
3) Spider Graphics Update - They don't even look different..

I Like :

1. Barrows < -- Easy and cool way to make money.

2. Pest Control < -- Great way to get lot of xp and the mini game is cool.

3. Contruction < -- One of my favourite skill, And I really like to go at high level player to go in their dungeon.

4. Skill Cape < -- They looks nice, even I cant wear any

5. Dragons Graphics Update < -- Yeah, the dragons looks way nicer now.


I HATE THESE 3 UPDATE :

1. Renamed Dds for Ddp(++) , Its confusing.

2. Farming !! I hate this skill, its take about 1 hour to the potatoes to grow and thats boring !

3. Pure ess < -- Yeah right jagex idiots make ess at 80 gp ea now there no way to make money with runecrafting chaos runes ( You make only about 40k if you are lucky ) and that make less money than before.

So remove these 3 update please...Lol

Like:

Pest Control - Very good way of raising combat and not bad for making money if you're level 100+ (1k per game thats pretty awesome)

Stronghold of Security - Very helpful for people to keep there account safe. Also a good training place for various levels.

Updated Graphics - Dragons, Demons, Giants, Bears, Rats all look so much better.

Barrows - Very good for making money and quite thrilling on your first few goes. (<3 Guthan spear)

Mage Training Arena - Very useful to train mage from 20-60.

Charterships - Easier to get around.

Dislike:

Holiday Updates: Reindeer hats, Skeleton gear... Boring Tbh.

There isn't much that I don't like but I'm sure I'll think of some later.

Like:

Construction - Very nice feeling when you have a big house.
Mage training arena - Cheap and fast mage exp.
Slayer - Good skill to set goals for, i personally never get bored of slayer.
Pest controll - This just simply OWNS.
Desert treasure: A good hard quest, they just need to stop people from being able to hide and mage. (After ive done it :P)
Monkey madness - Another good challenging quest with worth-while rewards.
Graphics updates - Look much more realistic and smooth.

Dislike:

Hunter - Cannt make money from it, boring, easy to train and barely any other uses.
Skill caped - A minority of people just use them to show off and people with 99's get hounded by noobs.
The emotes interface - How the hell are we supposed to know these?
Lunar magics - Good spells but nobody ever uses them because its just too inconveniant.

Probably think of more but ill stick with those for now :)

Likes....
Pest Control- Best way to train.
Skill capes- Good to give people an incentive to aim for 99 in a skill.
The bank in Lumbridge Castle.

Dislikes...
I didnt like the home port teleport- I think they are making it to easy for the newer players of runescape.

Useful:
Pest control,
barrows(Before drop rate was nerfed),
security dungeon(Ankous = free bloods and deaths ftw)

Useless:
Graphic updates(If I wanted a game with good graphics, I wouldv'e been on WoW a loong long time ago.)
The typical quest update every so often. (How many newbie quests does a man need to be satisfied?)
Pure essence (Whosoever bought 100k normal essence before they were converted just earned 7m profit within a second)
Recent rule 7 update (So Jagex wants to save a couple of greedy noobs who fell for scams by their greed, therefore everyone is suffering from that. Thanks a lot Jagex, you saved some level 70's a bunch of pixels, and putting tons of 100+'s on a risk of getting permban.)

Dislikes:
Pest Control (way to fast of training...)

The new holidays,halloween and easter are becoming very bad and they are boring...

Also new quest are not that cool as some like Legends,DT. New quest are becoming very boring...

My likes:

Construction: Non-linear, and it was cool to see how much I could get done by milking my bank clean of cash.

Hunter: Need I explain? It's because I liked seeing the Kebbit's feet sticking out from under the rock. I'm a man of simple pleasures.

Mage Training Arena: Obviously inspired by drug overdose, but then again, so was Final Fantasy.

My dislikes:

-Anything that is whipped up in 10 minutes to postpone a really interesting update like Barbarian Assault.

-Any insanely plotless quest that was thrown together in 15 minutes while Andrew and Paul Gower were both in too much of a drug haze to talk; also see above.

-JAGeX's feeble ideas of "Quest Help".

players gallery soo funny
skill capes are cool man i love them
i liked my arm quest it's funny

most hated
new treasure trails, they are so stupid
hunter i find it boring
still the worse quest, one small favor
trouble brewing you know why.

best:
1. Castle wars- i have no idea how much of my life was wasted there, but i enjoyed every moment of it
2. special attacks on dragon weapons, it really made dragon items stand out and added a bit more strategy with how you think of the gear you're carrying
3. the prayer updates (retribution and smite in particular)
4. morytania, yes you know- that whole halloween themed section of the map. i always found it very appealing and thought jagex did a good job of it, especially the music.

worst:
1. no more overflowing inventories after classic
2. farming, this skill takes the cake as absolute worst, it's tedium defined
3. most of the simple quests, you can tell how quickly they were thrown together and i for one dont appreciate them

Like:
White armor, Take a guess as to why I like this...

Tears of Guthix quest, This is the Godsend quest that lets me forget completely about my low leveled skills.

Graphic updates, Runescape's lookin better and better. Well, about as better Runescape an get I guess...

The few GOOD quests theyve made, DT, MEP1 + 2, Reg.

New t-trail items, Vestments, composite bows, and Third age armor, its all good.

Dislike:
Noob quests, why should I have to work hard for such a long time to get junk as a reward and absolutly no satisfaction of completeing the quest altogether?

Barrows, Replaced the most expensive armor in the game simple because of bonus effects.

Emote treasure trail clues, Why the heck does that freak want to see me dance while wearing a pink skirt, emerald necklace, and green gnome top?

Lame random events, who in their right minds wants to catch an evil twin or play pinball and get a notted saphire when they are working to gain skill levels? And whats with Niles, Miles, and Giles? Are they blind? how do you not tell a ring from a fish and a sword?

Likes:
1. Farming 8)
Why? Favourite skill, can get lots accomplished, easy to train ;)
2. Mournings End Pt II
Why? Challenging quest, good story line, death runes, and it's not done yet!
3. Desert Treasure
Why? First new spell book, another challenging quest, more Zaros coverage.
4. Pest control
Why? Fast training of combat stats. Not so good for prayer but good for the others.
5. Rule 7 update (before today)
Why? Making the players safer.

Useless:
1. Updates aimed at lower levels (ie. Lumbridge roof bank, skill tutors, lower leveled updates)
Why? Makes older and higher level people feel unwanted.
2. Hunter
Why? No real point to the skill -yet-
3. Pyramid plunder
Why? Out of reach and can't do much with it without high thieving.
4. Agility pyramid
Why? XP is better at wilderness course/monkey/brimhaven
5. Games room
Why? This room is a flop. It was popular first day and kinda died after that...

So yell at me if you will for my love of farming and the Rule 7 update, but it's exactly how I feel. :P

Dislikes:
  • the update when all medium lvl runes rose in price, long time ago
  • rune essence price change
  • hunter, like shane said, purposeless
  • 3.40 am, will edit it later
