Ok. Since everyone has bashed me like crazy, someone lock this.

Don't say that I'm just running into a corner because I'm beaten. You guys have made good points, and if I try to match them, I'll be bashed to death.

if someone likes the game and spends all his time on it and it makes him happy, then why not do it?

rune beast, you are being very hypocritical. you are a member too. you just owned yourself without anyone having to help. imo, paying 5 dollars a month for an ever expanding game is worth it. in total, it is 60 dollars a year, and that is about the same as a play station 2 or xbox 360 game, plus ti is 1/3 the cost of wow, which is better, but by all means too over hyped. in 1 year, enough content is added to runescape to make it equal the cost when ccomparing it to currently tip top software.

in other words, member is worth it if you can reasonably afford it.

All I need to say is 5 bucks a month is hardly anything at all. Look at the other online games which charge more monthly. RuneScape is cheap in price. You can make 5 dollars in an hour easily. 3 months for 15 dollars if your on f2p, why not work 3 hours and make 15 dollars in a much shorter time.

Anyways, I think its worth it. Jagex, afterall, has to have some money to run their company off of.

Runescape is a game. Yes. But people spend more money on games like WoW and EQ. And others, if it gives you enjoyment then that's just as good as buying the latest gameboy or console.

Its just a matter of enjoyment, so would rather play RS and fish or cut trees, or others might like doing thousands of damage on EQ or others might like playing FF on a console.

Overall you spend about the same amount of money for the same amount of enjoyment.

Its your choice.

.....

Members benefits are paying for your character's benefits. You're saying being able to access so much more and give your character an uber advantage isn't for your character?
---
And I'm not being a hypocrite. I pay for members on and off. With an xbox game, you have it forever. Until it breaks, that is. With RS, if you get banned, bye bye money (particulary if you buy a full year. My friend got burned that way.). WoW is overhyped. I agree there. I sort of agree with metalmaniac. But someone I know had to get medical help because he stole from his parents to play RS, because he had no money. Basically, I'm not saying if you are satisfied by members in runescape that you should stop. But I'm just saying, we are still losing all our items when we die. Why can't we get some sort of bonus for faithfulness, such as after 5 months of members, you get 3k gp, or something like that?

5 Dollars really is no big deal. You can find more than 60 bucks on the ground in a year if you look. Put it this way, someone whos homless could play RS for a year as a Member as long as they had access to a computer. Just think of what people spend buying a PS3 and 15 games, that's around $1,500 there. Also, you keep saying it doesn't last like a game becuase you can get banned, well all you do is avoid being banned.

One thing that some of you have brought up about rs is getting banned and 'bye bye rs acc and money' well its easy to not get banned. Don't break rules.

All in All, everything together, its just what you would rather pay for; 300-1,000$ on some console(s) or 5$ a month on RS or 25-50$ on a different game where you can't get banned.

5 bucks a month for a MMORPG that updates once a week is a VERY good prive.
Pluse what would you rather spend it on. a case of soda?

Let's face it. 5 bucks a month is less then a half-hour of work for hours of fun.

Ok, if you need a real benefitial reason, here's one. I have a mental condition that somewhat disallows me to easily communicate with other people. I can hardly look anyone in the eye, I stand out of the crowd, and I rarely make real-life friends unless I let them approach me.

And I'm not really the real-life person that everyone does.

Runescape, however, is different. Players are masked by these "fake" avatars, so I am able to approach and start making conversation without really having to know who I'm talking to. Because of these experiences, my real-life social life is starting to improve, and I'm able to start talking to people and make some friends in real-life.

Runescape's given me my social life (and, thanks to one little error and a Rule-9-breaking jerk, taken it away). 5 bucks a month for the ability to have the confidence to make friends? Hey, that's a price I'll pay.

your argument seems... realy... bad.... sry but if your main point is we lose our items when we die and we should get like money after being a loyal member is dumb... members gives us an opertunity to make MILLONS that free game cant...

Fletching - ealy with 75 + fletching or w.e. it is to make yew longs you can buy yew logs and bow strings and make an easy 500k - 1 mill in a day... can free game do that no

runecrafting - with nat running or nat crafting you can easly make millons

we have millons of ways to make money... so if what you said that we should get paid for paying... we do... with ample opertunitys to level up extremly fast and make lots of money..... so your whole argument seems dumb

Buying items in real life, just paying people for different pixels. You may prefer dark or light clothing, different colored atoms is all, all paid for with money. Hell, everything used to make Runescape is made of atoms, as is money itself. All is one, and that one thing no longer matters when you meet death.

What I mean basically is, your right, but it doesn't matter.

No offence but you have no point, I could take your exact quot and plug it into at least 1MILLION other things, starting at some basic thing that you don't even realize.

one of the more comman once is:

Theater: $7 might not seem like allot but, all you are doing is give a bunch of people to make someone look like somthing and adding some dramatic effect, you can save that money and waist it on real things. (PLEASE: don't tell me you don't watch movies?, if you do well this is exactly as runescape)

LIFE IS SORUNDED THING LIKE THIS

by the way $5 is really nothing, if i don't use it on runescape ill use it on on some bag of pretzels, now whats worse?

Your argument is completly pointless.

I think a point has been made. its just how you spend your money, and everyone does it differently.

I don't think this needs to be open anymore.
