I sent Jagex a complaint on the 3rd of August, 2006, and what do I see in my "Messages from Jagex" inbox, but this, on the 30th of October.

Dear Chief Snake,

Thank you for contacting RuneScape Customer Support.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Jagex.

At Jagex we always aim to respond to every message we receive from our players individually and as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, due to the massive growth in popularity of Runescape and the increasing number of queries that brings, we have not been able to keep up, and are not able to offer a personal response this time. We are increasing the size of our customer support unit and hopefully the next time you need help you will be able to get a quick answer!

We always give priority to answering all member queries personally, but we are now aiming to answer more free player queries. This number will increase even more in the coming weeks.

Why not consider becoming a member and help support the continued development of the game? Plus you'll also get a range of extra features and benefits like four extra bank pages, exclusive quests and you get no adverts that can sometimes put you off your game.
As a Member you also get access to the Forums which can usually answer any query you have allowing you more time to play the game.

RuneScape.com holds a mass of information on RuneScape and quite often you will find the answer you are looking for here, whether it be technical, billing or game related - one of the FAQ's is bound to help.

If you have tried this and still cannot find an answer to your query, please resubmit it again and we will try to give a personal response.

Once again, many thanks for your query, and apologies that we cannot give a personal response at this time.

Sincerely,
RuneScape Customer Support

Hope this answers your query.

Don't forget to use the RuneScape Knowledge Base to find the answer to your queries quicker.

You can also find help on all free player and all new member quests through the QuestHelp system.

Yours Sincerely
Mod Bartlett

So why didn't you answer mine?

Why do you think I submit it in the first place?

I've already been a member before, and I no longer play the game.

Yes I guess Jagex only cares about P2P people.
But only if they are lvl 90- combat.

Aiming to answer more F2P questions... I sent a query in September 2005 and they said they were aiming to answer more F2P questions, lol. And they say that and then tell you to become a member? Pfft.

Well, they sort of have a point. More then 200 000 people play Runescape at once, and I will presume that at least 25% of them send queries and such to Jagex (58% of them newbies with newbie requests like free stuff and level modifications).

The Jagex Team only consists of ... I'll guess about 38 people. It's not really a very big company. Why else would they have player moderators to help them out?

I don't know why they are rude to some people. I have never received a rude message from Jagex, I have tons of them in Message center. Sure it takes them up to three days but they always answer my questions. Although to help them I do send in allot helpful things. Even when I was banned from the forums for three days they were nice to me. I was banned from the forums because I accidentally said I site. It was about the Internet explorer hole. I got this back from them.

My message
Quote:
Dear Jagex,
I was recently banned from the forums for posting a report that informed people that used IE could get hacked. The cencor blocked out the site, etc. I said I would not post the sites untill a Jagex Mod told me so. People started flaming me because they thought I was a hacker. My intenion are good not evil. If I did anything wrong I wish to apologize.

Dear 7870074,

Thank you for your message about your recent account activities. Please accept my apologies for the delay in replying; with millions of players worldwide, we always have a lot of work to do and we are grateful for your patience.

I have investigated the details of what happened. It may not have been clear to you that it is not just URLs which are not allowed on the Forums; it is against the rules to direct users to any other site, even if the URL is blanked by the censor. This is because of the possibility that the target site could contain malicious software.

Due to the potential damage which could be caused if a malicious user spammed the address of a hacksite around the Forums, the Forum Moderators' procedure instructs them to issue an instant, temporary ban to any user who posts details of a website.

In this case, I can see clearly that you were not posting any malicious content and that your intentions were honourable; however, I am sure you will understand that we cannot make exceptions to our policy.

I did see your post when you made it and I immediately checked whether this issue will affect RuneScape users. It will not, since neither our systems nor our website are vulnerable to the exploit. This is why it was not necessary for us to make an announcement about it ourselves.

Thank you for showing concern for your fellow users. I assure you that we do take security very seriously and that we always work to keep RuneScape safe.

No permanent action was taken against your account and you have not received a Forum Strike.

I wish you well in all of your RuneScape activities to come.

Yours Sincerely
Mod Jon H

Personally I don't know why. Maybe they just pay attention to P2P players more. I just don't know.

I was F2P at one point and Jagex accepted my suggestion for white knight armor for players. I think that they don't ONLY respond to P2P people, they are just convincing you to pay $5 US a month just so they get abit of pocket money for themselves or something.

Yeah..they couldn't care less about players, they just care about the cash.

I got 4 auto replies from complaints I sent in about the crappy customer service FOUR MONTHS AGO.

The same guy, Mod Burgess, auto replied to all four. And I've been P2P for most of my RuneScape career..so really I think they need better customer support.

And, you're right, they can't be bothered. To answer peoples' questions OR hire new/better people..
