Post subject: | Mining/Smithing Suggestions. Oh no. (and a quest) |
Mining Suggestions. ----- Pickaxes. ----- Black pickaxes - Why not? Sapphire pickaxes, Emerald pickaxes, Ruby pickaxes and Diamond pickaxes. (for quest outline see below mining suggestions) ----- Sapphire Pickaxe - Lv51 Mining - Better than Rune Pick, When enchanted gives an extra 18% chance of recieving a Sapphire after every 5 ores. Emerald Pickaxe - Lv56 Mining - Better than Sapphire Pick, When enchanted gives an extra 16% chance of recieving an Emerald after every 5 ores. Ruby Pickaxe - Lv61 Mining - Better than Emerald Pick, When enchanted gives an extra 14% chance of recieving an Ruby after every 5 ores. Diamond Pickaxe - Lv66 Mining - Better than Ruby Pick, When enchanted gives an extra 12% chance of recieving an Diamond after every 5 ores. ----- ----- The Great Dwarven Coal Mines. Requires 75 mining to enter. (For quest outline see below mining suggestions.) ----- Works in the same way as rune essence. Players can mine a static rock which will give coal at the same rate they can mine it from rocks. Can be teleported there by a Dwavern Mage. Due to the fact this may flood the market with coal, and affect the price (god forbid) the mines can only be mined for one hour, before the mine runs out of coal - then a delay of 30 minutes will occur before the coal can be mined again. ----- ----- Pure Iron Ore. ----- Simply new rocks which contain iron ore, which has a 100% sucess rate. These rocks are mineable at level 20 and provide the same exp as normal iron ore. However are mined at the same rate as coal. These rocks can be found at the same place as normal iron rocks, and should only have 2 - 4 rocks per mine. ----- ----- Mining Quest: Shards of Mithril. Starting point: Dwarven Smithy in Keldagrim. (new npc) Requirements: 100 QPs, 55 mining and 68 smithing. Reward: Access to the Great Dwarven Mine, and the Gem Pickaxe store. Overview: The Dwarven Blacksmith, Hobbs, has been experimenting with an alloy of mithril and steel, combined it creates a metal stronger than both of these! He seeks an apprentice to be his heir to the Alloy Co. in Keldagrim, and so you must learn how to create alloys. Task: You'll have to mine and create 100 mithril shards, and 100 steel shards (making 10 bars of each and then smithing them on an anvil), after that you can fuse them together in a furnace to create an Alloy. Hobbs will then teach you how to make armour out of it. After the quest is done, alloys of Steel/Mithril, Mithril/Adamant and Adamant/Rune can be made. ----- ----- Smithing Suggestions. ----- Alloy Armour. ----- All alloys can only be made into; Full Helms, Kite Shields, Platebodies, and Platelegs. ----- Steel/Mithril Alloy. - Light Blue colour. ----- Lv68 - Full Helm - Same as mithril armour, gives an extra 3 str to wearers stats. Lv68 Kite Shield - Same as mithril armour, gives an extra 3 str to wearers stats. Lv68 - Platebody - Same as mithril armour, gives an extra 3 str to wearers stats. Lv68 - Platelegs - Same as mithril armour, gives an extra 3 str to wearers stats. ----- Mithril/Addy Alloy. - Green/Yellow colour. ----- Lv88 - Full Helm - Same as addy armour, gives an extra 7 str to wearers stats. Lv88 - Kite Shield - Same as addy armour, gives an extra 7 str to wearers stats. Lv88 - Platebody - Same as addy armour, gives an extra 7 str to wearers stats. Lv88 - Platelegs - Same as addy armour, gives an extra 7 str to wearers stats. ----- Addy/Rune Alloy. - Purple/Red colour. ----- Lv99 - Full Helm - Same as rune armour, gives an extra 10 str to wearers stats. Lv99 - Kite Shield - Same as rune armour, gives an extra 10 str to wearers stats. Lv99 - Platebody - Same as rune armour, gives an extra 10 str to wearers stats. Lv99 - Platelegs - Same as rune armour, gives an extra 10 str to wearers stats. ----- Note that the new items give no experience when smithed, you can only own one at a time, are given prority over any other items when you die, and you cannot trade them. ----- What you think? Worth posting on rs forums? |

Well, there would be so many poeple in the mines for that one hour, theres no way there would be enough rocks for everyone.. And if there were enough rocks for everyone, then dispite the fact you can only mine for one hour, the market would overflow anyway because everyone would be there... As for the pickaxe ideas, i'm just going to have to say no. It just doesn't seem like a very good idea, people suggest new weapons, items, armor ect. all the time.. I just think a ruby pickaxe would be the last thing Jagex consideres adding. Don't really know about the armor, i'm a skiller so I really have no idea how much str, if any, normal rune armor gives. So I say that's a fine idea, not much point to it, but some new armor would be cool I suppose. Overall, theres some good ideas in there I suppose. If you do post it on rs forums, I would give the quest a little more depth first. |

I have been told before, after spending hours elaborating on a quest, that jagex look at simple ideas rather than 50 page long walkthroughs on a quest, so I've done it this way for the past.. 20 quests I've suggested XD Anyways, there's only one rock. Doesn't matter how many peopleare at it. They get coal anyways. I made the great dwarven mine this way, because of the amount of coal needed to level up smithing. The only difference between this rock, and the rocks we have now, is that you don't need to wait for a respawn (all the time) and you don't risk losing the ore. I don;t believe the market will flood -that- much. |

I can say that the evil chicken was a suggestion, and desert treasure featured a part which definately reminded me of one of my own suggestions for a quest I posted before it's release. ![]() They don't look all the time. What kind of a company be if they spent all day on their own website? |

Ok I like the ideas, however, the reward for the quest should be access to the never ending coal spot if you meet the requirements of the guild, it requires 75+ mining to get in. It wiil be like the new mining guild. The pickaxes with gems is kinda nerdy, seriously they already have machetes and arrows with tips of gems, probably need to think of somthing else. Prehaps the dragon pick is released with this quest. Maybe you can only mine the "speacial new coal mine" with a dragon pick axe. Hey theres an idea. You can only gain access to the never ending coal mine if you are wielding a dragon pick axe. That way we can keep low leveled autos out. (and pure skillers but have to sacrifice somthing). If you read my entire post good job. You did much better then 98.999% of people on the rs official forums. |

Since dwarves come across gems much more often than humans (since all they do is mine and eat redberry pie) I'd think it much easier for them to get the gems needed to make the picks. Aside from that, I'm sick of new dragon things coming out since, (until recently, other than the hatchet) they're all useless. aanyways, yes. To get into the mining area you'l have to be 75 mining. I'll add that in. No dragon pick is going to be suggested by me though. However you can try, by all means. |

If you can't trade the new armour, this must mean only you can see it if it's dropped. And the addy/rune one being better than rune would mean people would wear it pking resulting in people getting no loot from kills, which is a bit unfair ![]() |

![]() There's only 305 people who'd be able to make it ^^ though a lot more with pots. I don't think that'd make a huge difference would it? Perhaps I could come up with something like.. When you die, if the armour touches the ground, it breaks into runite/addy shards. Which can be smithed into runite/addy alloy bars.? Also sellable. |

Nice suggestions Anubis, but I think some of them are just a little too good. Jagex would probably want to switch the times on the rocks up, making it able to be mined for 30 minutes and a cooldown of an hour. I like the new pickaxe ideas too, those would be nice. The quest looks good also. The only thing that concerns me is the armour has a high strength bonus. Sure it would be nice to have such a large bonus, but I don't think Jagex will make it with such a large bonus. |
