Post subject: | poor rs mods |
when i was in the rs forum, i had a little question to ask do you mods get training to be a forum or player mod? this is from a pmod ![]() then i asked, do forum mods have to follow procedures when dealing with troubled threads and yet again nope nothing. (see a pattern here) now most of you know my dumbest noob conversation thread on the ofurm. and well.... look what i said thank you him pker for answering my question. now if you don't mind i am going to speak my mind. ahem... a forum mod has moved my thread into the off topic section. now before you guys go ranting on me, please note that my thread has stayed in the general forums for 8 issues. when number 9 came it was moved to the forum games and sending a message to jagex did nothing. so i went to prove a point with number 10. i made it in the general forum and guess what??? for 2000 post it STAYED IN GENERAL. now when number 11 came out it has been moved to the OFF TOPIC forum. WHY THE HELL??? it is runescape related why is it in the off topic forum? i did a search after this and guess what, there were 3 other "dumbest things people/noob/ low lvl etc say on rs" and they are all over the place. mods i know most of you do a great job, i've seen it, i remember when people copied by thread and you guys handled the situation which i knew you would. BUT if you are going to move my thread at least have the courage to post your name and say WHY! no training, that's not a good thing, reading the code of conduct does not mean "okay i'm ready to be a mod" i am also a mod for a fansite, when i move threads i have to say why, when i am locking a thread i have to say why, it's common courtesy. and don't think i didn't send a message to customer support about this either. my point (besides wanting my thread to be moved back), the rs forum mods can't agree on anything. something simple such as posting your name when moving a thread is unheard of. from the forum "Actually you get some Mod guidelines to learn up on. No training required." yeah guidelines are like rules. WHO THE HELL READS THE RULES??? do you think it's right for somebody who has no training in being a police officer be patrolling your neighborhood? how to be a mod on rs easy "report people, get message done" this is not right |

Sadly mods have a shocking thing called individual thought. It means they take what ever actions they feel fit. I sometimes see things on these forums that have been moved/locked/whatever by mods and disagree with it as well, it's best to ignore it. |

So mods don't get trained to do their job? No way! I thought they recieve a message telling them their job description on the first day they are modded. ![]() |

Um, what is there to train? You are aware besides muting, mods have NO other powers, and I think anyone over the age of 15 is able to tell when someone needs to be muted or not. As for forums mods, I have to say, in my opinion Jagex does a fine job of picking them. Although I have seen a few bad ones, they are usually de-modded. I think Jagex just needs to be a little more picky with the p-mods. |

You being a mod yourself, trekkie, I'd think you know what you're talking about. That does seem reasonable to give an explanation of why you do things..whenever I do it in SOTW, I always give an explanation. Even though that is a small area of the forums. ![]() |

for the record this is what a jagex mod told me Quote: Your thread had a topic, which had nothing to do with RuneScape, therefore it belongs in the Off Topic Forum and not the General Forum. The Moderators acted correctly by moving your thread. Have you posted in my sticky about personal Goals & Achievements? You can find this thread with the Quick find code: 48-49-684-28798934. Let all of RuneScape know what you have achieved. Happy gaming! ^_^ Yours Sincerely Mod Dave 1. why the hell would i post in their stupid goals and achievement thread??? 2. what does that even have to do with my query? 3 when somebody moved a previous one to the forum games, this is what he said Quote: Thank you for your message.
I have checked your thread and it does indeed appear to be a game - in fact, you provided a list of rules in your first post! We have a specific Forum for games and all such threads do need to be kept in the Forum Games area. This prevents the other Forums from becoming cluttered. Yours Sincerely Mod Jon H notice something? yessss even jagex mods can't agree... great job huh, if these are the professionals think about the bad mods |

Jagex and professional do not belong in the same sentence unless the words "is not" is in between them |

Jagex are strict to on who is mods who becomes a mod, my real life friend became a forum mod, and his mod power got taken away on his first post because he spoke slang and said limewire. |

Ugh... Well, people should know how to be a mod without training, but they do need like some moderator rules... But if something is obviously Runescape related... Well... They don't really deserve to be a mod. |

I can't figure out what you're so upset about... didn't they just move your thread or something? Are you mad that in a forum that has thousands of users and hundreds of mods that they can't seem to agree 100% of the time? Your fuming over something senseless and it's almost childish. |
