Bnncer3’s f2p Guide to the Melee/Hybrid Pure Table of Contents: 1.A little understanding2.Pick your Poison 3.Stats to aim for 4.Equipment 5.Training 5a. Getting magic 5b. Getting prayer 6.Various Tips from Clan Members 7.Conclusion Section 1: A little Understanding This is you: “l0lz amgAwD i cant wate to meek a pure and pwnZ teh WiLDZY!1” Actually, if that is honestly how you talk, I highly suggest you leave. This guide is going to be constructed with correct grammar, textbook lessons, and maybe one picture if you act nice. LOLS JUST KIDDING!! But seriously now. Here is a few things you want to consider before making a pure: -How much time do you have? -Are you willing to lose a few things here and there in the Wilderness? -Do you know you’re what you’re doing? -Do you have all equipment needed? -How much time do you have? You need a good amount of time to make a pure/pker! It doesn’t happen just like that..*snaps* Also, from time to time you are going to die if you’re not careful. You may lose a rune scimmy, some runes, or some arrows. If you cant afford to lose that, don’t make a pker You must have SOME common knowledge of the game/Wilderness. You can’t go making a pure, not knowing what ‘pk’ ‘str pot’ ‘tele’ etc is. It’s a good idea to know your way around the wilderness *points to rs map* It’s very important to have the right equipment for training and pking alike. Sure, you can train all the way to 40 attack with only your bronze sword and wooden shield, but it will take soo long! I will talk about what equipment you might need further on. Section 2: Pick Your Poison Ok, you’ve made it this far, and now your wondering “Hmm a mage pure would be nice…ooh ooh wait a melee pker would be incredible though…but I can’ forget range..” Here, I’ll help you a little bit. I will try and break down the triangle. Levels 10-20 Mage-Best, probably has around 15-25 magic. Maximum is probably a 9 or 10 if using chaos spells Melee-OK, most likely you have a mith scim and about 15-20 str. Meaning you can hit a 3 or 4 pretty fast Range-Terrible, only has maybe 20-27 range. Hits maybe a 3 pretty slowly Levels 20-30 Mage-Still maybe the best. You can probably get 30-45 magic in here. Hits a 13 or 14 Melee-Getting there. Hits about 5-6 max Range-Getting there as well. You can probably get 40 range in here, meaning you hit a 6-7 Levels 30-40 Mage: Still best. I found out that in the upper 30's (37+) that you can have 59 magic at least, so you can hit 16 Melee: Pretty good. With a rune scim and 40 str in the upper 30’s, you can now start hitting 10-11 fast Range: Decent, you can hit maybe 8-9 now as well Level 40-55 Mage: Average. You can now only hit a max of 16 Melee: Awesome, hitting about 15-16 now if you really try Range: Mediocre. Hits about 10-11 Levels 55+ Mage: Not that good against pures. Still only max’s at 16. At this point you will mostly be facing off against impure main accounts usually with rune, so they are still good. Bind is very helpful (thanks tales) Melee: Dominant if still pure. You can hit about 17 or 18 with rune scim at around 70 str. BUT the downside is if you get into the low 70’s combat you start getting to impure people, who pk in rune with like 55 attack, 50 strength, and 52 defense which your stats own, but they just have rune armour Range: Good but same as above. Too high combat = impure troubles. At about 60-65 combat You hit maybe 14-16 max, I can’t remember Now do you see what you want to be? A melee pure? Sweet! What a coincidence huh? Section 3: Stats Picking I already just named some pretty good breakdowns of the combat levels above, so I’m just going to go straight to the most popular/profitable pures to be, Addy and Rune. These are my personal suggestions. You may have a different opinion then me. Addy Pure1: 30 attack 30 Strength 1 Defense 28 HP 25 Magic(Optional) Addy Pure2: 30 Attack 40 Strength 1 Defense 31 HP 25 Magic(Optional) Rune Pure1: 40 Attack 40 Strength 1 Defense 37 HP 37 Magic(Optional) 25 Prayer(Optional) Rune Pure2: 40 Attack 50-60 Strength 1 Defense 42-46HP 37 Magic(Optional) Rune Pure3: 50 Attack 60-70 Strength 1 Defense 52-56 HP 37 Magic(Optional) 31/34 Prayer(Optional) Remember, these are just suggestions/templates. Feel free to customize them in any way except remember: if you are a pure DO NOT GET DEFENSE!!!!! Also, I pretty much guessed on the Hit point(HP) levels. I assume that those are pretty close though. Section 4: Equipment I’m just going to run through everything I use to get to 40 attack, and 40 strength. You really don’t need anything else after that, except for some food to continue training. -Bronze Sword/Wooden Shield (Tutorial Island) -Mith scimmy -Addy scimmy -Rune scimmy -Ammy of strength -Iron Armour Section 5: Training Ok, you just got off tutorial island with a cool name like “B nn c” or “Bnncroxks” right? Gotta know where to train! Starting off is difficult. BUT I found one of the best ways to do it. Start by training on the men/women just outside of lumbridge castle till about 15 attack and 15 strength. I like it here because you can die and respawn right back in lumbridge castle, then run back and continue training ![]() ![]() I usually train in that spot, but I recently found a brand new spot that is pretty fast as well, if not faster! Nope, not the KBD. NO NOT THE KALPHITE QUEEN EITHER!!! Wait, did you say chickens? Oooh sorry my bad, your right! There is several chicken spots around RS, but my favorite is the one right near lumbridge ![]() Wow already got the stats mentioned above? Now to move onto slightly more difficult foes. Goblins! ![]() Here is the best place to train on them, it is west of edgeville: ![]() I choose those, because there is a lot and they are close together. Also, I know you’re thinking “UGH, this is terrible; I gotta stay at goblins for all this time?” But goblins are really really good XP and are good for prayer too. At this point, you could either stop training, or if you want you can keep going. I, personally, would stop training at about 40 atk 40 str because that’s where most of the rune scim pures are. BUT, you may want a higher strength level (50-60) so I will just name a couple places: -Varrock sewers (has zombies, ghosts, deadly red spiders, moss giants if you want) -Cows (yeah I know, “nooby cows” but they are not bad xp) -Jailgaurds in Draynor/Lumby forest (you can 3-item here and when you die you just run back over and continue training) Or any other place that doesn’t really hit that much/require defense. Section 5a: Getting Magic Magic for your melee pure is good in a couple ways: -Teleports. Not only are these good for escaping death in the Wilderness, but it can make your life a WHOLE lot easier by teleporting around with these instead of walking -Magic defense. While facing pure mages, or just anyone who has a good magic level, it helps to have a good magic level yourself. I’m not sure why, I just keep hearing “get magic for a magic defense bonus” I’m not sure if it’s necessarily true, but I would get it just incase -Casting your own spells. Yeah I know hitting a 8 With addy scimmy is good, or even a 10-11 with rune scimmy is still great, but it doesn’t hurt to carry some spells just incase your opponent has armour(any armour, even bronze). This could be a good KO technique too. If your opponent has 25 hp, and you only hit a 6 with your addy scimmy, chances are he wont heal till he has about 10 hp left. If you get him down to that low, you can cast a quick couple fire bolts (or better) and he will either die, or be low enough to just kill with your sword Where to train you ask? Grab about 1.4k minds, 2200 airs, and an air/fire staff and go to wizard tower. On the top floor, there is a lesser demon trapped in a cage. ![]() This is definitely one of the bests (if not THE best) places to train magic on f2p. The lesser demon CAN NOT at any point attack you. Plus, there are usually only 1-2 people there for each server. First, cast roughly 300 wind strikes to get to 13 magic. Once you hit 13, start your rampage of fire strikes. It took me ABOUT 1.1k of them to get 37 mage (I stopped here because I just wanted enough magic for fire bolt, and to get all the teleports). By all means keep training your magic to whatever level you want, but I didn’t need it any higher. Section 5b: Getting Prayer Ok. Here it is. The choice between playing it safe and getting 25 prayer for protecting your scimmy, or risking it and saving some combat levels by sticking to level 1. I, personally, like to get prayer. It only gives a few combats, helps you protect your most valuable item (as said) AND you can use atk/str prayers to hit more. I highly recommend you get prayer if your not worried about your combat. Here is where to get it: ![]() Level 13 Chaos Altar. As you may see from the picture, there is 11 bone spawns inside. What you do(YOU MUST WALK FOR THIS TO WORK, RUNNING MESSED IT UP), is pick up all 11 bones, bury them all, and right after you are done burying (if you timed it right) the first bone should reappear again. Do this over and over till you want to stop. Some calculations: -It takes roughly 38 seconds to pick up all 11 bones and bury them -11 Bones is 49.5 xp (11*4.5) -It is about 1.3xp a second (49.5/38) -This means that it is about 78xp a minute (60*1.3) -That means that it is about 4680xp an hour (78*60) Not bad, since it's all free too ![]() Section 6: Tip from Wil: Red deadly spiders on karamja are also really good for training. Bring noted food and coins, sell food to the gen store, then buy back. -also- Def is one of those things that is good or bad. On f2p, dont get defense unless you are going to get it REALLY high. That is called a tank. On p2p, there are 5 good def levels- 1- Good for people with high attack and str. With a kigh attack, you shouldnt need much def because you will keep them eating most of the time. 20- Initiate. Its ownage armor. It has good defence and and a killer prayer bonus. It keeps you from being k0es as easy and only adds about 3 levels to your overall combat lvl. 40- R00n. Not as helpful as initiate IMO but ive seen many def pures own. If you are more of a all out str pure, you might want to get this. You wont be hitting as often so you will need to be able to take a few hits 70- Barrows. Yeah. Pking in barrows owns. Above 40 def isnt as good IMO unless you are planning on getting 99. 70 def lets you wear barrows, but you still get hit fairly aften. 99- The mother of all def levels. With a high def, you will want a high attack, and mid str. Melle tanks hit often but not as hard. They are more about wasting their opponents food than koing them. If you are going to go above 40, go all the way. Tip from Taleswapper: At 55+ you might start to think about defence. Wearing mith/addy/rune can give you a lot more time to KO rune wearers. Think 60 80 20 or even 80 99 40. Best f2p pkers i have seen videos of were 40 def with 99 str and attack somewhere in 80's. They used scimmy and r2h combo. Most people they will be fighting will have around 75 80 65 as well as a few extra pray levels. They (the pker) will be hitting only a little less often but hitting 3 - 5 harder. Also ultra high str will mean extra hp's which means less need to eat (which increases chances of KO). Tip from ekaj: melee IS good at level 30-40 against mages..most people dont know to take off their armor and bring food Tip from steve_dafist: Just as a tip, another great place to train mage is the Jail in Port Sarim. There is never anyone there and the Black Knight is weak against mage because he is wearing armour. You lose the chance of decent drops, but it goes much faster IMO. That and there are other prisoners in jail you can attack too. Section 7: Conclusion Woot! Now you got your stats that you wanted. Time to PK!! Good luck out there, and be careful. Credit to: ME(guess) My RL Friends(for not even IMing me once while I made this…actually this didn’t help at all. Wait, I wish They HAD talked to me, that way I wouldn’t have been so bored..) Any constructive criticism or anything you think should be in here just tell me. Thanks |
