I was thinking one day, that RS really needs some new combat skills. That was when Trapping hit me.

1. You will make items used to distract monsters.
2. You will set up traps:flame traps;dust traps;arrrow traps; etc.
3. Ranged traps will require 50 ranged, bow string, and 2 mith arrows or
Higher, and level 1 trapping. Exp 4 exp in trapping and ranged per 1
Hp taken away from monster resulting in the attack, and 500 trapping
Exp during set up.
5. Flame traps will require 50 fire making, tinerbox, and sticks(new item)
6. Exp; 100 exp in fire making, and 100 trapping exp for set up+4 exp
Per hit in trapping; max hit-8 dammage per second for 6 seconds.
7. Poisen traps; required; 40 trapping, a new poisen(much like weapon
Poisen but much easier to be made and get a hold of) and spikes
(also a new item made from a new tree; lvl 45 wc; spiked bushes)
Effect- monster is blinded for 20 seconds resulting in its attack and
Stre being reducuced by 25% with a 50% hit rate.
8. Advanced arrow trap; req 50 trapping, and 60 ranged; These traps are
Much more powerfull then the previous ranged trap resulting in a max
Hit of 31 and being able to poisen the arrows. 500 trapping exp, 250
Ranged exp, and 4 exp in trapping for every 1hp taken away from
Monster resulting from the 2 arrows.
9. Net Trap; req 60 trapping, a net, and a rope. There will be new spots
Around at certain NPC training spots, with a place to use rope with.
The net will come down and will trap the creature, for 8 seconds, at
Which point you can ranged/use other traps on it with out getting hurt.
1,250 trapping exp
10. Fire blast Trap; lvl 65 trapping, 59 mage, and a trip wire, sets out
2 mage spells fire blast , max hit-40. 4 exp per hit in mage
and trapping.(Also new traps for every new attack spell going up
5 required trapping levels per spell)
There would be other traps as well, but I ran out of ideas for the time being. =( But the strings and stuff like that will be re-usable so you dont have to keep banking, and arrows stack, poisen would be needed to be banked, and items such as that. And exp MUCH higher then I listed upbove since it would be such a pain to set up and stuff. As you raise your trapping level things take less time to set up, and you hit higher. There will also not be a 100% success rate at first, so you will need 25 trapping or higher to start really doing dammage. At lvl 50 you will have a 100% success rate. This skill will be non members to a certain degree, but MUCH more effective and cheaper to raise in members. And some of these traps will not be able to be made in non members. I think this is a good idea, but things of it need to be edited to better-fit runescape. It needs to be a more useful skill, a braoder range of uses. having it to just be trapps would just let it be incorperated into the thieving skill. Here are my ideas about it and how it can be used:

-=-Crafting and Fletching would also need to be used to set up the traps.
-=-The new tree could be replaced with an existing one, the archy trees (or the ones that look like them round the canfis area).
-=-The trap skill could be used to trapp monsters for certain npc's, they pay you cash fopr the type of monster caught. This will give it more uses, and allow it to be a money-making skill. If the monster dosent get caught, exp will be given for the damage delt.
-=-Not all monsters would be able to be caught (ex. the biig ones)
-=-This could be used in castlewars also, spear traps round the walls to keep players from climbing them, stoping them from going through certain halls, etc.
-=-The traps might need slightly less ranged and mage exp to start with, like level 1 ranged traps will need lvl 15 range, lvl 2 30, lvl 3 45...the higher leveled the trap, the better resources would be needed to make it.
Traps could also be pre-asembled and sold, sort of like furniture is right now. Make it, it gets packaged up, then it can be sold and used.
Sticks and other things used to make the trap could be made from low leveled fletching, like level 10, or arrow shafts could be used. also they may be gotten from woodcutting, use ax on logs (normal) to cut branches off, or use tree pruner on tree to get branches.the pruner could be secatuars from farming.
-=-Exp will have to be changed, probably to how much damage the monster takes, or if you catch it, and what monster is caught.
-=-When a monster is caught, it can be teleported away into a catchers gem, which could be carried in your inventory, and different leveled gems could carry different leveled monsters and more of them. Gems should be bought from trappers, the people who buy the monsters from you.

There would be a point, White fire made a suggestion that there would be ways to trap certain monsters at different levels and sell them, maybe as monsters for people to put in there PoH, so they dont have to have the required skill to make em. It could possibly be a great moneymaker. And a good combat skill. And if the traps stacked. Then you could sell them also but have a required level to make them. THIS COULD BE A GREAT MONEYMAKER! POST

I suppose this could be considered Hunting, hich we all -should- know has a very large possibility of being released.

Hunt, trap and Capturing monsters could result in being able to keep a monster as a pet, which could attack in battle.

Of course, the monsters captured couldn't be something silly like a dragon, perhaps a baby dragon but thinking seriously - the combat system is massively messed up as it is, in my honest opinion, we need better armour rather than a new weapon.

Sorry, that was off topic, I do think this is a nice theory as to what hunting could be.

Placeing the trapped monsters in your PoH would kinda be a cheep way to get them there. Runescape made you buy them for a reason, so players can (stupidly) show off how much cash they have by buying a 5m steel dragon for their dungeon.

The idea I suggested is that they would be SOLD to hunter (or trapper) NPC's for a set ammount of cash. The monsters, when caught, get transported to a Hunters Gem, where they are in a stasis almost, then when sold they get taken out of the gem and into a cage for the trapper (One of the places you could sell to is Ardoughn Zoo and to a NPC outside of the Slayer Tower in Canfis). Each NPC would only buy certain monsters, like the Zoo Keepers would only buy monsters that are already in the zoo and the one outside of the Slayer Tower would only buy monsters located within the tower itself. Or maybe even all of them could be sold to certain wizards for their own uses (Capturing Skeletons and other fiends raised by Zammorack then selling to Dark mages, Selling other monsters to mages for a sort of magical monster archive). The monsters you catch you can then fight (maybe) without fear of loseing items when if you die (only they would have to give less exp or not so good items in order to keep a balance). the hunters could gather up to a set ammount of each type of monsters before they will start paying you less for monsters you try to sell them. If you want to get more cash for each monster, you could have them released (for a fee) or you could fight them.

A new set of traps (maybe especially ment for PKing) would have to be area of effect traps, like a fire blast that hurts anyone within a medium-sized area, usefull if you place more then one around you (ESPECIALLY if you are a mage or ranger). Also bear traps could be used to stop players from moving for a short period (like the mage spells). Tar traps that stop the monster/player from running(This would be MOST useful for Pkers, namely melee fighters). Smoke traps that allow the person who set it up to flee safely... The possibilitys for a skill such as this could be greater then any of us realize.
