Post subject: | Jagex + Story Forum = Chaos, Anger, and Flaming |
Since there seems to be a lot of Jagex-flaming, I decided to add in my bit. This concerns something that most of you people wouldn't give a second thought to, simply saying, "Who cares?" But me, and other authors from the Runescape Story Forum, DO care, and have a fight to pick with Jagex because of a stupid thing they did. It was quite a while ago, a couple months. I had been writing in the story forum for quite some time, and had joined a few player-made guilds. These guilds were basically acadamies or schools, made to help developing authors to improve their skills. Some, at the same time, where also status symbols; some very respected and renowned authors were high in the ranks. There were different ranks with different requirements, such as, to be plantinum you needed, say 20 story posts, and good quality writing. These guilds greatly helped many budding authors in the Story Forum. Yet, for some unfathomable reason, Jagex saw them as a threat. They rampaged through the Story Forum, locking/deleting any guild they spotted. On top of that, for NO REASON WHATSOEVER, they deleted other threads in which authors offered others the chance to have their stories rated. Jagex gave no reason for this act, whatsoever. In place of these guilds, Jagex placed a sticky at the top of the page. A SINGLE sticky. One thread, made as an attempt to make up for the many guilds they locked or deleted. And what was the sticky to be used for? Discussing stories. Discussing. Guilds gave help, and assignments to aid authors and improve their skill. Someone please, PLEASE tell me how discussing stories can help improve someone's writing. Please. What Jagex did was, in my view, rash and unneeded. They said the guilds were generating spam. SPAM. Oh please. Oh FRICKIN please. Well, that is my rant against Jagex. I just had to get that out. Discuss. =) But don't flame. =( |

well in a way if pepole went around saying join our guilds "join this cool story making guild" i think jagex would think thats pointless (at lest i would) but maybe jagex could of handled it a little bit better |

They were NOTHING like clans. They did NOT advertise. They were simply there. Other authors joined if they liked it...There was no advertising or anything such as that involved. |

Meh, reminds me of when I made the old thread RSSNN. The Runescape Stories News Network. The thread where people can advertise their stories. It was quite successful, and it got a load of Story-advertising Spam Threads off Jagex's hands. Yet they didn't help the thread at all. With what power I had, I tried to keep it alive... No sticky... at all. Now it's been dead a long, long time |

I didn't even know there was a story forum. ![]() Eh what can i say? RSB's suck. Jagex doesn't know or care about what the public wants. They do it there way, it's clearly shown with how badly they restrict clans, yet you head to rsc and there so organized and such a tight community, if jagex just listend to there members then things would be so much better. Sadly, they stopped doing that years ago. |

Even though I don't read that forum or post in it, deleting organized things like that that aren't spam is a little on the stupid side. Jagex is becoming less and less considerate for it's paying customers. |
