Ok, so runescape has a huge number of players online:

Ok, so each member pays $5, and there are :
Very roughly added these up (1900, 1500, 1100, 15x600(9000), 500, 3x700(2100), 1200, 6x800(4800), 1300) to be VERY roughly; 13400 members online at this time.. that's a huge amount, if they pay $5 each a month, they get $67,000 a MONTH from these players alone.
Lets say they have 200,000 members, this is at a guess from looking through high scores. 200k members is $1,000,000 a month, and $12,000,000 (£539,196.68 a month and £6,470,360.16) a year, how many are there on the team? 20? $600,000 a year? EACH? Even if there is 50 of them, $240,000 a year. If they get that much money, and they use.. $2Mil of it to pay for servers etc a year, that's $200,000 a year if there is 50 of them.. ($200,000 = £107,825.62)
This is an insane amount of money and runescape grows everyday, whoever first thought "I'm gonna learn programming" and then started the spark of runescape, I salute you.
