I'm basing this entire story over the barrows because, theoretically, it should work there too.

Anyways, I have in the past, made 40 trips to the barrows. The result? Not even a stud off Karil's top. This is with the ring of wealth.

Now, my friend, whom I won't mention because I respect his privacy (Beats Karl to a pulp), asks me to teach him about the barrows. I do so, and he uses ice bursts. Good, strategy, I figure, because I am poorer and use magic dart.

Take 20 trips later, the lucky guy is walking away with '9', count them, 9 pieces of barrows armor! I follow him taking some trips myself and still get nothing but chaos runes, which top in the 7 000s because of the barrows alone.

Now I'm all over him saying 'lucky', 'woah', and all that. Who gets full ahrim, some guthan (spear), and verac nearly every second trip? Not me. So I ask him if there are any special manourvers he uses. We compare armor and robes that we use, and the only difference I notice is that he wears a ring of life.

I figured that maybe the ring of wealth just doesn't help the barrows, and I proceed a few trips. After still no luck, I decided that this ring of wealth doesn't like me, and I died one too many times to dharock and verac (I'm pathetic), so i bring a ring of life. I get a karils crossbow on my 4th trip.

Now, my brother is thinking that the ring of wealth makes all the difference. So he, who has never gotten a piece of barrows since his first try EVER (Torag plate [with a ring of recoil], but that was when the barrows first came out) gotten takes off his ring, puts on a charos ring (don't know why), and goes a few rounds. He gets an ahrims top.

I'm shocked, but admidst that, I finally notice the pattern, and swap my ring of wealth for a ring of visibility (REALLY don't know why), and try the barrows one more time. 3 trips later, I'm walking out with a guthan helmet and a smile on my face saying to myself that I'm finally going to get full barrows.

The moral of this is that all 3 of us have proven that the ring of wealth is a barrows jinx, which makes getting your barrows armor rarer then origionally. Bottom line, DON'T use a ring of wealth at the barrows.

Don't use a ring of visibility either, because it's pretty darn useless. I suggest recoil or life.

I remember someone saying Ring of Wealth only increases chances of "semi-rare" drops. I think I would actually agree =\

It does work.

Trust me, jagex doesn't invent stuff, lie about what it does just to annoy everyone, although i do like to think that at times.

I just avoid using Rings of Wealth altogether because, for the sake of my sanity, I'll just do Barrows till I get something and not blame it on any stupid piece of melted-in-gold dragonstone.

Basically, if you think about being in a casino...

You are playing a game with two roulette wheels, you have to get a certain number on one whell, to get onto the next wheel.

Now, If all the rare items are on wheel no.2, and the other items, along with the number to get onto wheel number 2 is on the first one.

Ring of wealth, will allow you a better chance of getting a rare item on the second wheel.

Thats how Jagex put it, if anyone can find the quote...

How I interperet that is, each monster has its own unique set of drops as the first wheel. The second wheel is the one that includes gems, half keys and dragon items. Wearing the ring of wealth slightly reduces the chance that the second wheel will give a gem, which may explain why for me diamonds are less common than half keys.

On the forums a jagex mod said that ring of wealth do NOT increase barrows drops. Only monster drops by 20%. But i don't think any other ring would increase your chance of getting an item.

I don't see how it would increase barrows drops, as it's not really a drop is it, you open a chest to get a reward, i think barrows is like alot of runescape, just luck ;\

Yepp, barrows is just luck like the game itself :D and like I said ring of wealth only increases MONSTER drops by 20%

Reason why I don't do Barrows anymore.

Jagex changed the rate of getting Barrows pieces from 1/10 to about 1/40 or some crazy number like that. They thought people were getting too much money out of it. In total I only got
  • Verac's Flail
  • Guthan's Platebody
  • Karil's Skirt (Twice!)
  • Guthan's Chainskirt
All of that was with a Dueling Ring.

However, Ring of Wealth isn't meant to be used in Barrows.

See? Monsters only. Ring of Wealth helps no way whatsoever in Barrows. Barrows is a random generator so to speak, it gives out random items each time. Don't expect anything to help improve your chances.
