Post subject:  Control your drops (in a way)

Ok, I found that there are lots of people suggestiong things in the general forum, so I figure why not me?

Anyways, here I go. It's not very long.

The idea is that you can kind of control what you get when you fight something. However, what it mostly depends on is the way you kill it. In a nutshell, you get drop items based on how the enemy died.

Here are a few example because, well, I don't know how to explain it othwerwise:

Let's pretend the monster is a fire giant. We know that fire giants drop lobster, herbs, runes, and arrows.

Now, if you drink a potion of some kind during a battle, the fire giant will be more likely to drop a herb.
If you kill it with ranged only, it will be more likely to drop runite arrows. However, it won't be as high of a percentage difference then the herbs because they're worth more and it would be pretty cheap because rangers arch fire giants more.
If you kill them with magic only, you get a higher chance of them dropping runes like chaos, blood and fire.
If you eat at least 3 pieces of food, you get a higher chance of recieving lobster.

Now, for the rare things like dragon medium, dragonstone, and runite scimitar, there are no kill-style drop bonuses, except if you fight them in a way that doesn't match the previous ones so the not-so-rare thing won't appear more commonly.

I think a good advantage of this is that players can fight these monsters to get what they'd rather want, like arrows, instead of coins and runes.

A drawback would be that ... well, I think that rangers shooting fire giants would rather want runite scimitars then more arrows, so they'd complain because they wouldn't get scimitars as often.

Anyways, there. Wild thought, wild hope, and I don't expect this idea to be a big hit.

in my opinion i dont like it. I mean it would be far to confusing to know all the different things to use for every single monster in the game of rs.. there are tons.. :P

Ring of wealth pretty much does the job of what your saying, usually u dont see a huge difference. I can see how this would be an advantage, but it would be too easy for high lvls to get a d chain from kq', d hatchets from dag kings, mud staff from dag kings and so on.

I cant really see this idea working. But its just my opinion.

But no harm in suggestion in it anyway, us ppls at rsbandb can always help you improve on it.

I think that would be an alright idea. It would be nice to be able to go to, say fire giants, to train range and have them drop arrows for you. Then you can just stay there for a longer time instead of running out of arrows. There would be other advantages like this. The one thing I would not like is that you have to come to the monster in a certain way and fight a certain way to get what you want for loot. If I want to get anything they drop then it would be harder this way. So overall I think I am going to stay against this becuase I like being able to get any item at random. Though it could be useful in some ways. :?

I really just like knowing that I have an equal chance to get anything though. When I fight using melee, I like picking up arrows and runes to increase my ranging and mage lvls. I don't want to have to dress up and fight a certain way to get a certain sort of drop. But that's an interesting idea though.

yeah if you think about what xohyax said then that kinda ruins it, everybody would use a certain attack style on the kalphite queen and they could get a d chain every time....it would crash the prices....and that would definitly not be a good thing....

It looks alright at first, but this would be a crash to the market of Runescape.

If this came to be then Dragon Chainbody would be in some trouble.

I'm not going to say this is a bad idea, it's alright, but I like the fact that all of the drops we'll ever get are random. I mean, you could get a Dragon Chainbody off of KQ/Dustdevil and look back at how much time and effort you put into it and think how cool it was to finally get what you wanted for ages. But if this came out then there's no point to hunting armour or anything rare like that, all you gotta do is walk into world 2 and buy it for like 5k if this actually came true.

(Not to mention the amount of people walking around with Dragon Chainbodies.)

Drops should remain random.
