Lol, I'll always choose the 60+years old option now Image

A pmod in my clan said Jagex are asking for our age to know what kind of ads to put on their website and the reply one of St's members cracked me up! He said "I think they got it right..." and posted these pics:

Hopefully they will use the age thing to decide how many people of what age play and use that to make better updates and ads, not ones for little kids. :D And as for the ads.... I LOVE THEM! =P~ \:D/

This could be bad...

If Jagex is asking us our age.. then they are thinking on focussing their market (i.e. players of runescape) to a particualar age group. This could affect the entire game.

For example, if 75% of the players of runescape are 12 years and younger, Jagex could change the game/ads etc to make it more suitable for 12 year olds. This could make the game too easy..

However, if 75% of the players are 60+, then the game will change dramatically to become harder.

My opinion?

Jagex has released mobile phone wallpapers ringtones etc. Posters and more merchandise for players to buy. This may turn into a large source of money.

Jagex is now asking us our age. From what I understand this is market research, they are trying to attract more of one type of person. This doesnt mean others cant play, but it will make the game much more attractive to a certain group. = more money.

Why?

Jagex is either running short on cash. Possibly due to a dramatic rise in the number of players and extra server costs. Perhaps, not enough players are members to fund over 100 servers, not to mention the extra employees needed to deal with customers.

Jagex, to me, seems to be rushing things. Short, boring quests, one new slayer monster. They have got to have something bigger on their minds. Money perhaps?

Or.. Jagex is just getting greedy...

but if that is true i think that the game will become a lot easier cause most ppl that play i think are like 7-12..cause they go to their friends then the learn about it..then they tell their friends..and keeps going..like i bet ovwer 50 ppl i no personally play that are in that age group..if so this might really be bad.

I agree Anubis, Jagex is getting greedy imo. And their customer support= automated bots always replying the same things so I don't think its paying employees that is ruining em :o

I doubt they care at all whether rules except for real world item trading are broken now anyway. I sent in masses of reports for ONE certain ad to be removed, each time they said they would take action against it. (been almost 6 months now.. i still see it from time to time).

Most likely - Jagex wants more money.

Hmm.. I hate to say it, but if what we are discussing is true.. Runescape may not last much longer. Its gone beyond game design and having fun to squeezing as much money out of it as possible. I would have thought with over 200 thousand members paying £5 a month that they would be happy with that. But, for some people, enough isn't enough...

Jagex needs the money to update and such, pay their employes and such, its still kinda funny that they ask for age now.
