I know I may have posted about archery in real life before but this is abit diffrent. Is the equipment (dragonhide) that Rs archers use anything like real life other than the bow and arrow?

If I understand it correclty then the answer is no. (At least I don't know any dragons in real life where the armor could be made from) However Leather might be used in real life.

I'm assuming they wear no armour.... seeings as they don't get hit. An arrow in real life would severly injure/maybe kill you.

They most probably wear some sort of protective clothing in-case of an accident. Although I think leather wouldnt be used nowadays.

well...lemme see here....i did alot of research into the area when i was little...(after mars....but before egypt.) and rangers would wear armour of leather and sometimes studded leather, as to defend against small accidnets and because it was lightweight. the studs also procected SOME against other incomming arrows.

Archers wear little or no armor because they need freedom of movement. If they do have armor it will be something light and easy to move in like leather or padded cloth. They also wear bracers to reduce strain on their hands and wrists, which has the added advantage of allowing them to draw back further.

So, yeah, the armor is somewhat realistic, assuming dragon leather is thin and flexible.

Runescape archery is SOOOO unrealistic it's not even funny. (then again, so is melee but archery is more)

If you're hit in your torso or head, you're basically dead instantly, and the 'hardness' of the tip matters little because it moves so fast. And the only armour you need is gloves for hand stability and an armband because sometimes (happened to me more than once) when you let go of the string it moves fast enough to scrape your arm and it hurts....

I once had a bruise throughout my entire bottom of my arm

Mail Call. watch it

yes archers wore armor. depending where they lived europe japan, america ETC. true many archers did not wear much armor, tatic was hit and run but many european archers had armor and a short sword. their armor was more flexible but no arm guards so they can shoort easier.

i did a huge report on the Renaissance, i should know.

they did use leather, sometimes studded, sometimes even chainmail. unlike in RS, they did not wear helmets.

like in RS sometimes, they carried a dagger with them just in case.

I dont think so because in real life arrows are really expensive

which was why kings has so much gold, and arrows weren't cheap back in the renaissance.

and rl rangers aren't called rangers, they're called archers... and they certainly don't wear leather nowadays.

As much as I know, Arhcers use pretty much lightweight stuff. Sometimes from leather to chainmail. They would also carry something sharp like a dagger or a short sword to protect themselves in close-quarter combat. Gloves I think would be used more than Vambraces to protect the hands. Helmets I think would be used in some cases, as in a full on assault with a platoon of archers, helmets wouldn't be used if the archers were to be traveling or any sort. It would get in their eyes and mess up sight. Crossbows I don't think they would tend to use, as to other military guard archers, they would use crossbows due to it's power and easy-to-aim trait. Throwing Knives, Throwing Stars and Darts are realistic, but hardly used by any normal archers.

Goes to show all my knowledge of archers from history class and video games.

basically what i said, but u brought up darts. eh, darts won't do much unless they're super hard and sharp, and the thrower better dam have some good aim and strength.

well lots of natives used darts even to this day, although they are mostly for hunting
