To hell with Tip.It and their calculators...although they have the most accurate combat calculator there is on an unofficial Runescape website, but they won't release their source code. Well, although I know virtually none of Javascript, VB, whatever, I am pretty good at TI-83 Programming, so I am releasing what I have here and what exactly Jagex does so that our combat levels are what they are.

First of all, I think every single one of you knows that your combat level is largely affected by if you are a pure mage/ranger or a warrior. Your label is indicated by this formula:

If your magic/ranged level>[(Attack+Strength)/1.5], Then you are a mage/ranger.

If not then you are a melee warrior.

Now, most of your Runescape character's levels are determined by this formula, although some have exceptions,

Combat level=Attack*0.325+Strength*0.325+Defense*0.25+Hitpoints*0.25+Prayer*0.125 (For warriors)
For example, if you are a n00b just out of Tutorial Island, your combat level would most likely be 1 everything with 10 hitpoints, then your combat level would be (1)(0.325)+(1)(0.325)+(1)(0.25)+(10)(0.25)+(1)(0.125)=3.525
Another example would be Zezima, his combat level is determined by (99)(.325)+(99)(.325)+(99)(.25)+(99)(.25)+(99)(.125)=126.225.

NOTE:JAGEX ALWAYS ROUNDS DOWN ON COMBAT LEVELS.

If you are a mage/ranger, then your combat level is determined by this formula:
0.4875[Your mage/range pure level*(Attack+Strength)/1.5]+(Attack*0.325)+(Str*0.325)+(Def*0.25)+(HP*0.25)+(Prayer*0.125)

A follow up is coming soon(tomorrow)

Sorry, but I have to tell you that it isn't. The main difference of the two combat calculators is what my follow-up is about.

Part II of the Combat Calc Guide--The Prayer Factor

It seems that Jagex has inserted a prayer factor into the combat calc system. If you could take your time and make a new character, and make him/her half 1 attack, 1 strength, 3 defense, 10 hitpoints, 1 prayer, magic and ranged, you well see that your character's level is still at level 3. Sadly, corresponding with Tip.It's Combat Calculator and not with RSBandB's.

While testing out my own character's combat level, I have found out that if your combat level ends in a decimal anywhere from .875 to .975, One of your prayer levels goes from 0.125 to 0.02.

Dude, this combat calc has never reached 100% accuracy and rsbandb has the best acc.(no doubt) and definetely better than tip.it... plus rsbandb is trying and working hard to get their calc. to 100% accuracy... now respect their efforts

It is because I respect their efforts, that I give them pointers on things in the combat calc that they missed.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I have never seen one example where Tip.It was wrong about the combat and RSBandB was right, and my picture just proves that, for now, Tip.It is better.

EDIT:SORRY FOR THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURE, BUT YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THAT TIP.IT SAYS 30 WHILE RSBANDB SAYS 31, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, TYPE IT IN THE CALC YOURSELF.

why is that sad?
all he is doing is trying to find out the ever illusive formula for finding your combat level.
and yes you will find out that once you get over 85 combat, 1 level is alot and takes time to get...
..yeah, owned :P

I agree. It's sad that this woman/man/child (didn't check sorry) can use numbers with incredible accuracy to help a site tyhat you no doubt spend a plentiful ammount of time labouring over? It's sad that you use this site but will do nothing to support it.

Look mate, with those smarts you could be earning some decent digits. I and MOST appreciate your help but I think you'd be better using those digits to help us discover a cure for cancer rather than creating a calculator for a game that will eventually fade away, unlike cancer. PLEASE NOTE!!! I am not being disrespectful, I truely appreciate this guys valiant attempts to branch the combat calculator and to keep this site at the top. BUT, it would be better for himself to use those fantastic brains to help mankind or get a very well paid job.

And yea, Tip.it's calculator is slightly more accurate.

well it is never gona be 100% acurate it 99% imposible and well they did a good job on heir calc i realy dont think they need help

the actual calculation as I worked out ages ago is:

(attack * 0.325) + (strength * 0.325) + (defence * 0.25) + (hitpoints * 0.25) + ( [round down (prayer /2) ] * 0.25) -0.083

the -0.083 on the end is because people at level 100.0825 are actually level 99. -0.083 will make this correct.

I have always been using rsband's combat calculator since i believe it is the best ,the only times when it is wrong, is when you just got a combat. If your combat is like 70 or 70.1 in rsbandb's calculator, it will still be 69, but i dont care about such a dumb mistake.

I dont think many peeps will use ur formula because it takes to much time and since im so lazy, i just gonna keep on using rsbandbs calculator.

I am pretty sure that no-one, ever, will get the exact formula for the combat calculator. Unless jagex shows us our combats in decimals rather than the whole number, then there is absolutely no way we can get the exact.

However, if you wish to pursue this... Good luck.
