Entertainer Rank Competition

posted by Southrend on 9 March 2010 at 23:59

As some of you already may have noticed, we have introduced a new rank called Entertainer. In this announcement I will explain why we introduced this rank, what we hope to achieve with it and how you can get this rank.

Runescape Bits & Bytes is a place with a relative small community. Because the community is quite small it also means it can be pretty quiet around here. Obviously most of you like it because it is a small community but we felt we should enlighten the place a little. We want to create a place where you can enjoy and have fun. Lately someone joined this site and started to make some "interesting" posts. We don't know how you reacted on these posts but they gave us a good laugh. And that's why we decided to get a group of people together that should do roughly (exact wouldn't be funny anymore) the same. Members of this group are allowed to make posts in a new forum, write guest articles/comics for the RSBANDBInformer!, have a guest appearance in the RSBANDBUpdate! and even get access to a new section on the website.

So here is what we are going to do. This topic will be the start of an application/contest. If you think you're also able to give us a good laugh or a good time, then you should tell and (even more important) show us why you should be in this group. There are no really specific rules except that you should try to make Runescape Bits & Bytes a better place to stay. Furthermore, it should be original (or in someones words: "Plagiarism will not be tolerated as well") without hurting others feelings.

You will have till the 23rd to submit your application in this topic, after that we will let the community decide who will get this new rank.

We wish you the best of luck and a very good time!

Ending The Short Month

We were welcomed into February with the Rune Mechanics quest that Jason covered for us. Tim covered both the Impetuous Impulses update and Familiarisation in one article. Kirby also hypothesised about what Runescape would be like with aging and weather. With January's Barbarian Assault update Tim expanded his Tricks of the Trade series with the "Barbarian Assault Attacker and Collector" edition. While all this was going on Jason was planning just how he'd use a Varrock teleport and Slayer ring to traverse Runescape easier with some Teleport Tips. The rest of our Runescape articles were dominated by PvP and the Economy.

This month Paul and I covered how to help others remotely and took a look at what the iPad is in terms of present technology. Ryan took some valuable time to point out the vast Plague of Problems with Modern Warfare 2. Of course you can find Kenny's continuing Music articles here.

This past month Southrend claimed his 6th Skill of The Month win. He gained 5.5 million Crafting experience. Overall, 17,359,385 experiened was gained by all competitors. Congratulations Southrend! Here is your trophy:

Other competition winners for February include Jason (Games Tournament) and Asovse1 (Hide and Seek). With this being said we'd like you to invite you to come to our weekly Boss/PvP Runescape and PC Gaming events.

Our survey is still running and we'd greatly appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to complete it! It will help us guide which direction Informer will head in the coming months. You can find the survey here.

See you next month.

February Events

The end of the month is near so that means it's time to come and visit the Events Crew on Runescape somewhere, doing something, for some good reason. This month we are adding a weekly event to the rotation and hosting two end of month events on February 26th.

The first event on Friday the 26th is a free-player hide and seek in Varrock in which you will search for Events Crew and Staff members to rack up points. The person with the most points at the end will win the bright pink competition rank. So once again, this takes place on Friday Feb 26 @ 5pm RSBandB Time/MST [4pm PST, 6pm CST, 7pm EST, 12 midnight GMT] on World 154. More info will be posted in this topic as the event draws closer.

On the same day Think 'n' Drink will occur. This is a tournament in the Burthorpe Games Room. Tournament groupings will be drawn up after signup when you get to the event. The person who successfully makes it to the top of their ladder will win the competition rank for March. This takes place on Friday Feb 26 @ 7pm RSBandB Time/MST [6pm PST, 8pm CST, 9pm EST, 2am GMT] on World 132. You can find more info in the event topic.

I am also pleased to announce that Boss Takedown is back in the form of Leo's Boundless Boss Brawl and Powerful PvP Party. Each Saturday a boss will be taken down or members from RSBandB will pick on poor stranded PK'ers. You can find links to the weekly RW event post and voting post here. This event will take place every Saturday @ 7pm RSBandB Time/MST [6pm PST, 8pm CST, 9pm EST, 2am GMT].

Finally for those of you not aware, our PC gaming event has moved to Monday. We play a mixture of Counter Strike Source (GunGame) and Half Life 2 Team Deathmatch. PC Gaming takes place every Monday @ 7pm RSBandB Time/MST [6pm PST, 8pm CST, 9pm EST, 2am GMT]. You can find the info for PC gaming here.
