Hey guys, I enjoyed listening to your podcast again today!

Your tech news regarding Facebook's recall on a lot of their Oculus demos really hit home, as that's actually what my current job is (besides being a university student). This was actually the second big recall. The first one happened last month and saw the removal of maybe 30 Oculus demos from the higher traffic stores (these stores were originally privileged with 2 demo stations instead of 1). My friend who got me the job lost his job in that wave, and most of the other reps I know will be losing their jobs this week. I'm very fortunate in that I get to stay on the program for a bit longer, and I have already found more part-time work to do on the side.

Regarding the decrease in customer interest in trying a demo, I could see it being a combination of two things. The points you mentioned regarding price and the gimmicky nature of VR are surely part of it. But after doing this for almost a year, it should also be considered that anyone who WOULD try the demo already has. Price is still a problem. I write in my daily report without fail that the price needs to come down, but we still do manage to sell about one Rift per store per week.

So yeah, a lot of the details I shared aren't really that interesting, but I thought I'd share them since I can. I would still implore you both to try out the demo if you get the chance, because it is marginally more exciting than it sounds (honest opinion, not a sales pitch); my objective this month is to get as much of my family and friends to do the demo before my job disappears, since they don't really warn us of when that will occur.

Looking forward to more podcasts! Perhaps I'll throw in a small VR question next week (nothing to prompt too much conversation since you already covered this story).

Very interesting to hear that perspective.

What do you think is needed to make VR take off?
