Well, I've been with Comcast for a while now. Their introductory price was nice. But of course, it got jacked up quite a bit once the offer ended.

So now, here I am, a little over half a year later and I want some info from you guys and some advice if you have any on the subject.

First, I want a quick explanation of internet speeds. In particular, I want to know whats standard, what's ideal, and what's overkill. I, being a run-of-the-mill gamer, don't want any lag or latency, but I don't need the best internet money can buy. What's a good mbps for my needs? For reference, I checked my connection with SpeedTest. My download is 59Mb/s and my upload is 6.1Mb/s with a ping of 22 ms (based on a server less than 100 miles away).

Second, what can I do now as a consumer to try an maintain a lower cost for my internet bill? I'm not a cheapskate, but I don't think the price they are charging me now is fair. What can I do to lower it with Comcast or is it better to just find another company in my area to go with?

I'd also appreciate any other thoughts or advice on the topic, including your guys' experience with ISPs and internet costs. Thanks in advance. :)
