Hello everybody! Welcome to the thread for the unofficial Old School Runescape Skill of the Week competition! This will be run much like the current official Skill of the Month competitions, but with a couple of differences: This competition will take place in Old School Runescape only. Instead of competitions lasting for a whole month, these competitions will only last for a single week. This is to keep everybody's interest and to make it slightly more competitive. The skill for the upcoming week will be posted around the time of the Saturday experience grab. Starting Monday, July 21, 2014 at 12 AM RSBandB time (UTC -6:00) competitors will have one week to gain the most experience in the skill that will be randomly generated. Experience grabs will occur every night at midnight RSBandB time (the same time the site highscores update). Due to me having to personally grab everybody's experience each night, I ask anyone who competes to log out about 5 minutes before the time of the experience grab in order to keep things running smoothly. For anybody interested, I ask that you post your Runescape name and the competition you are signing up for (you can either sign up for each week individually or you can sign up for all competitions). The skill for the week of August 3 is: Fletching The week of July 28 will not have a competition as I attempt to repair my computer, sorry for the inconvenience. I'm hoping to see it grow as well. I miss the days when Skill of the Month was always close (which, fittingly, was around 2007 and 2008) so I figured putting in on Old School plus shortening up the competition would make things interesting, competitive, and hopefully give everybody motivation to stick with the skill. That has been one of the biggest issues recently with SKOTM, one or two people will stick with the competition and the rest will flat line after a couple of days, so hopefully a little change of pace can help liven things up. I actually think that a few of our older competitors actually play Old School regularly now; it would be nice to have them come back. |
