I don't agree with that. When I was learning english runescape did help me quite a bit. Also when I was going for 99 Defence and I played on German servers I learned quite a bit of vocabulary.
When I was going for 99 Woodcutting, I always hunted for the best Evil Trees on the foreign servers. And that meant I had to understand what the Spirit Trees were saying, and where I was to go to find out what tree needed to be dispatched. With the help of a translator and a short Evil Tree guide on where they pop up, my initial week was all learning.
Over time, I became really committed to dedicating a couple hours of my day to hunting Evil Trees, sometimes even guiding friends. It helped me learn a little of the other languages (and most notably improve my French, which I was already learning at the time) because a lot of information was being fed at me to understand.
Oh, and they're always empty too. Which was a nice bonus.
You can play Runescape bot free by playing on foreign worlds and when I say that I don't mean play on a server in another country, I mean by going to the homepage and playing the game in French/German/Portuguese (If you scroll down to the bottom there are some flags) The foreign versions only have like 2 servers but there are no bots. It's great for things like Mining/Woodcutting, maybe members things e.g. Green Dragons (even though I have never checked). You just have to swap back to English later. And of course the only problem is you have to play RS in a language you don't know, unless you speak French etc. Hopefully this helped you out if you didn't know already
