Post subject:  Quick f2p Skill Question
Is it better to mine coal to get to 85 and sell the coal or should I just powermine and drop iron in Al-Kharid? It is becoming harder to find a place where only one person can work the Al-Kharid mines.

Given the two options, you might be best to do a bit of each. If you can get a coal spot near a bank (and it's open) you would make a pretty penny off getting 85 mining. However, I've got a few friends who powermined till 85 at the mines south of Falador without too much competition.

Either way will get you there, obviously, so I guess it's up to how much time you'd like to spend getting 85, and if you care about profit. If you don't care about the time and want to profit, stick to coal. If you want 85 mining asap and don't mind not getting any monetary gains, just powermine iron somewhere.

Wouldn't hurt checking the German world either, if you need a spot.

If I were you, well i wouldn't even be doing mining tbh, but if i had to I would do coal for some money.

If you have the patience, powermining is more efficient. Coal is just awful exp and awful money. You'll probably get more cash and exp (and wc exp) if you mine iron and cut yews for the same amount of time that you mine coal.

Personally,I would power mine iron.Coal is always crowded and it takes a long time to mine.Iron is much better exp.

powermining iron is a lot quicker xp. it might be less if u only mine one but it spawns quicker and al karid mine there are a couple of spots that u can mine iron, or fally mine and u can mine an occasional mith or addy ore and keep to make a little cash

yeh i agree you can mine iron and banking it this means money and xp or if you are member use ring of forging and make iron bars this is also good money and u get some xp

it's important to think what you need more. do you want to have 85 mining right now or do you want to have it sooner or later but have lots of money selling the coal? if you have time, go for the coal all out, but if you want 85 mining in a short amount of time, go for the coal

It all depends on what kind of money you want. If you're satisfied with the money you already have, just power-mine. If you're wanting cash, Al-Kharid is the place to mine and bank. This should help you out. If anyone says different, tell them to leave you alone, because this is how I got my mining level up on my main.
