I am trying to format my harddrive and keep getting two different errors when I do. Any suggestions?

I would guess because there is a system partition on your (D:) drive.

There are no system files on that drive. How would I combat that?

I'm not exactly sure what you need to do to fix it. I think you can use your Windows install disk to move the partition around but I think there might be some more steps to take.

Sorry I can't be too much more of a help, I imagine someone else on here will be, plus I need to be heading off to bed.

Good luck :)

edit:

Try taking a look at this. It seems like a similar issue you were having and the solutions provided worked apparently.

If I were you, I would download GParted Live or something similar and try formatting the hard drive outside of Windows.

Because your D drive is disk0 according to the bios, windows would have put the boot files on it when installing. I know, it says C: is the "boot", but that's Microsoft logic.

Here's an official support article about restoring boot files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2004518

You'd want to switch the order the hard drives are physically connected within the computer first otherwise your computer will always be booting off the boot files on disk0 if they are present before moving onto checking other drives.

I wish you would have wrote this before I went and forced formatted it via the Windows Install disk. Haha. It's fine, I just re-installed. Alrighty. You can lock it up.
