Post subject:  New Graphics Card Problem

I got a brand new graphics card that is fantastic...except for one little issue. Whenever I restart my computer or boot it up, it takes 7 or so tries for the thing to actually come on. It tries to power up, but shuts down and tries again. Any possible explanations for this? I asked a friend who said my motherboard may not support a newer graphics card. Perhaps now is the time to build a new computer and get a better motherboard to support my graphics card?

How's your power supply? Enough to support what you've got?

And your mobo should be able to get bios updates, but that's usually something for CPU compatibility and other similar upgrades, not accessory card upgrades. Still wouldn't hurt to check, I suppose.

Pretty sure the power supply is 800 watts. I know it's quite above normal so...I don't think it's that. As for a bios update, they are all out of date and for 32 bit software, not 64 bit. None of the two available work, and both came out July of 2007. May be time for a new motherboard. I doubt the card is compatible with such an old motherboard. One person suggested to me the card might be trying to find a work around to run and that's why it takes so long for the computer to start.
