That question that's on everyone's mind: what has Forged been up to this summer?

The answer? Hiking the Appalachian Trail!

I just go back from hiking 1,460 Miles on the AT from Georgia to Connecticut. The trip took me 85 days, counting the 3 days I spent in D.C and an injury that took 3 days to recover from.

Does anyone else like/do any distance backpacking here? If so, what cool trips have you done/plan to do?

Cool Forge, I hope you have pictures but glad you enjoyed the hike.

The farthest i've been is about a 2 hour hike near the trail in my area. it's a short area but good enough to get some exercise and fresh air.

Awesome dude. That's a pretty cool accomplishment. Not a hiker/camper myself. I've done a 50 miler, but that's as much as I cared to do.

Doing a 100+ miles certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, but after a certain point it gets physically much easier and you mentally adjust as well. It was a bit of a shock coming back to the "real world," much harder to get used to the modern world than it was to acclimate to the woods!

Congrats! That's somethings I've wanted to do for years. Recently I saw a documentary about it and it looks like a real challenge. The only things stopping me from giving it a try is being tied down to a job, that and my wife wouldn't be able to join me due to physical problems. So I guess for now I have to settle for local hiking trails.

Woah that is crazy! I have never done anything like that in my life.

How much weight did you lose? Any crazy stories you want to tell? The only thing even close to that, that I've done is when I backpacked Europe. Walked like 10 miles a day, and I lost around 15 pounds iirc.

Gratz dude! What an accomplishment
